SEC Scheduling vs Service Academies

The current dust-up over UT ducking Army got me interested in how often the SEC schools schedule the service academies.
As far as regular season matchups (excluding bowl games) as a member of the SEC (excludes games played before the SEC formed or before teams joined the SEC), it breaks down as follows:
Alabama: 0
Arkansas: 0
Auburn: 0
Florida: 2
Georgia: 1
Kentucky: 0
LSU: 0
Miss St: 2
Mizzou: 0
Ole Miss: 0
So Car: 1
Tenner: 9
TAMU: 0
Vandy: 20
It's turns out it's rather rare for an SEC school to schedule a service academy team during the regular season.
35 times in 89 years.*
* Former SEC Schools
Georgia Tech: 8
Tulane: 6
Sewanee: 1

Or you could just say 5 games in 89 years outside of the Tennessee schools who played 29 times.

You're missing a lot of stuff. For instance, Georgia has played Navy twice regular season.

A lot of teams have also played that military school in Texas.

Thank you for the correction, UGA did play Navy once as a member of the SEC in 1957.

Of course they count.. but my point was that it was silly to list so many teams with a 0.. when it was mainly just two teams.

LSU is playing Army in 2023 in Tiger Stadium
I know LSU reached out to Air Force and Navy as well and even offered to play a service academy in a neutral type setting but I don't think they got very far on that
A previous chancellor was the one that advocated playing the service academies due to his military background
The LSU baseball team has hosted Army and Air Force several times

This is only a historic list.
I don't think any blanket conclusions can be reached. For all I know, every SEC team is reaching out to the service academies every year trying to schedule games.
I'm just noting that the frequency with which it occurs is pretty rare.

A whole lot of downside for playing these gimmick triple-option teams and almost no upside.

As you posted USC has played Navy once since joining the SEC. All time we've played 8 against Navy going back to 1920. Against Army 3 times in the 1950s. Have not played AF yet.

LSU played Army in West Point in 1931. LSU also played the Citadel in 2002. They have a future game against Army scheduled

I understand.
But the SEC was not a conference until 1932.
My general understanding of what would be described as a "service academy" to the casual fan would be Army, Navy and Air Force, the schools that compete at the D1 level and participate for the CIC trophy.
If your understanding includes the Citadel, then feel free to adjust accordingly.
