Record Against teams rated 101+ and worse in KenPom: 100-1

Ole Miss’ loss to #130 Utah is the only conference loss outside the Top 100

Overall, the SEC is down from last year. We collectively lack giant wins… we’ve gone 1-15 against the KenPom Top 10 and a dismal 0-14 against the KenPom Top 8…. Which is why our highest rated team is only #10 and I think most anyone would agree their metrics are a bit inflated due to a very comfortable schedule up to this point.

On the flip side, we as a league only have one loss to a team outside the Top 100…. Just two losses to teams ranked #90 and lower, and just 3 losses to teams ranked #80 and lower. That’s fairly strong.

I believe this is a 8-9 bid league this season when we get to the Tournament.

Yeah it really is. The fact we’re 0-14 against the Top 8 but also 100-1 against teams 101 and lower tells me we’re about to see some incredible parity in SEC play. I think the SEC champ is going to be 13-5… we’ve not seen that happen since 2018.

Just running through the SEC schedules, it does appear Florida got a VERY favorable schedule. They somehow avoid having to play on the road at Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, or Arkansas. All of those games are in Gainesville.

Here’s my prediction for the SEC standings. Teams in BOLD are NCAA Tournament teams with their seeding also projected.

14-4 Florida (3-seed)
13-5 Alabama (3-seed)
11-7 Tennessee (5-seed)
11-7 Auburn (6-seed)
11-7 Arkansas (6-seed)
11-7 Vanderbilt (7-seed)
9-9 Kentucky (9-seed)
9-9 Texas (10-seed)
9-9 Oklahoma (11-seed)
8-10 Georgia (first 4 out)
8-10 LSU (first 8 out)
8-10 Missouri
7-11 Texas A&M
6-12 South Carolina
5-13 Ole Miss
4-14 Miss State

Would be a bunch of 6-11 seeds (including the possible LSU and Georgia) that a 2-3 seed would not want to see in the 2nd round.

This might mean something to me if I had any idea what KenPom meant?

Torvik Rankings - No Preseason Input Included

7. Vanderbilt

12. Tennessee
22. Florida
24. Georgia

38. Auburn
45. Texas
55. Texas A&M

Maybe the wildest stat to me is that Mississippi State is #152 in defensive efficiency, #15 out of 16 in the league.

Great post thanks for taking the time. I am still on the fence with OU. Its the best team Moser has had yet I’m still undecided how good they are.

I moss these days. We went on a 18-2 run afterwards lol.
