That's what he did here also. But it's usually UA fans that give Saban credit for the Tide D.

Maybe I overstated a little bit, but I just feel Smart would not be as good without Saban.
He very well could become a great defensive coach, kinda like Muschamp.
I think Smart is near the top, just not the best in the SEC

I think Smart will be the best Saban product as a HC because of how much confidence he has in KS. He has a lot of duties
Pelini has been a great HC and he had the same level of confidence, Smart has been with Saban longer than Pelini was

Smart is probably doing himself a huge favor by turning down HC gigs for now and sticking around Saban for a while. It will pay off in the long run
