You aren’t being rational or objective, how about this, take the LSU player out of the equation, if everything is the same and after the same 1/2 step Jace drops the ball on his own it’s a 100% certainty that it’s considered an incomplete pass and not a fumble

He is 1/2 way through his 1st step when the LSU players helmet contacts him
The first foot contacting the ground during the catch is not a step, if it was a sideline catch they would not count that foot as a foot down with possession so why do so many LSU fans think the first foot while the ball is arriving is a step?

I garuntee there are other officials that would say 100% of the calls were wrong.
