Looks like if someone didn't block him he would have been the next man to beat to me.

Pro QB's will get to the sideline with a quickness. They know better

If anyone goes back and watches what AJ does on the blocked field goal, you will see what a smart qb does to keep a situation like Dial happening to him. B line to the sideline.

Actually most of us have said a flag would have been correct.

But yet you keep arguing that it was clean hit? Which is it?

that was helmet to helmet. i cant believe this is even being debated. i dont care if he gets suspended or not, but to claim it wasnt helmet to helmet is dumb.

Next man to beat was #71 (Theus) obviously not shown in this pic.

looks to me like he led with his shoulder:

I just watched it in slow motion, in HD. it's very debatable which hit first, shoulder or helmet, as his shoulder(right side) is hidden by his body, from the camera, at the point of contact. Murray's Helmet does snap backwards well before his body though. His forearm is the last to make contact

Apparently not. You've been saying it was a legal hit for two days.

I've said it fifty times pretty clearly. It was a legal hit. Within the rules, but it was excessively rough and vicious (which is a grey area).

Can a clean hit be flagged for unneccessary roughness?

I wonder...

Well they both were to be honest. But we had guys in position to pick up 71 and dial was in position to pick up Murray. If ha-ha breaks that tackle its a TD.

You don't understand that the unnecessary penalty is largely for these types of situations.

Where a hit is both
a) technically legal
but also
b) excessively rough or vicious.

This is what I've said clearly many times.

The hit was legal, but too rough. Which is exactly the point of unnecessary roughness much of the time.

did you see the LSU-Ole Miss game?

Did you see Lofton's INT?

Did you see the flag for when Barrow (i think) hit bo wallace. and wallace was actually attempting to play defense. and the hit wasnt dirty. and the flag was thrown.

i thought dial's hit was indefensible...i was wrong

Murrays head snapped forward into Dials from the blow to the body. Not that hard to see when you watch it.

I wonder...

Of course, because they can't codify every single possible situation into the rules. There may not be a specific rule for elbowing a player in the balls, for example. So the unnecessary roughness rule was created which simply leaves judgement up to the officials. Because obviously it is impossible to list every single possible thing that would be over the line. The rule book would be infinitely long.
