I don’t mind it moving around. It lost the tradition driven appeal when it left the Georgia Dome. Mercedes Benz Stadium just isn’t the same.

Dallas (obviously great, left out bc further west than Houston)
Birmingham
Shreveport
Memphis
Little Rock

Jackson
Some of the above cities are college stadiums so not sure that's allowed.
Charlotte
BTW, just a reminder, one of those is my birthplace and had been a shithole since we left there when I was a young teenager in 1968. NEVER should a SEC Championship grace that city, not ever.
ETA: We drove away with it burning in our rear view mirror in 1968. I'll never forget it. It's been a shithole city every since.

The bottom half of the list doesn't really get narrowed down from your description

You kinda make a good point but ...
Hint ... garbage strike, assassination, Loraine Motel, Beale Street.

This is like a McDonald's fry cook bitching about the location of the nearest Mercedes dealership.

Houston?
Maybe the best food city in America, but otherwise why? The SEC is a beautiful conference with beautiful campuses. Houston just doesn’t fit that vibe.
Keep it an Atlanta or maybe move it to Nashville when that new stadium is up and running. And if you’re going to Texas, which there is no need, play it at Jerry World. Hell. Or even San Antonio.

New Orleans is the best managed city in the Carribean...but in the US it is as poorly managed as a city could be...airport is horrendous and public transportation is a joke.
Nashville is not a city at all...it is a town. Shitty airport and hotel prices on par or more expensive than Manhattan or San Francisco. It is good for bachelorette parties if you're a 24 year old girl and mama and daddy are footing the bill but if youre a grown adult not so much.
Houston is interesting. Not really the south though. Most southern area of Texas but compared to Alabama and Mississippi it ain't close to the south. Great city though, just not southern enough to host the SOUTH Eastern conference title.
Atlanta is the economic engine of the SEC region. It is home to about as many alumni from all of the SEC schools as it is UGA. Airport is unmatched in the region or the nation, transportation is unmatched in the region, and an abundance of affordable hotels makes Atlanta unique in the south. Add to this the fact that, like it or not, Atlanta is the epicenter of College Football, and it is unlikely the SEC Championship game is going anywhere any time soon. If it ever does the ACC will move in and never leave and will bolster their CFB presents in a way that they will never be able to do if the SEC doesn't allow it.
On top of all of that Atlanta is, for all its warts and blemishes, a known commodity to the demographic who attends the game. Middle aged white folks and college students are comfortable in Atlanta...it is just edgy enough to feel like you are not in Hahira any longer but, at least when big events are going on, perfectly safe in areas that the demographic would venture into. The people who attend the game, for the most part, are accustomed to traveling through Hartsfield (it is oft said that when you die in the south you have a layover in Atlanta), most likely they have been to a Braves game and spent some time in and around Atlanta and probably know people who live in and around Atlanta. No other city in the SEC region makes sense from this point alone...folks from the region are, for all their bitching and whining and pretending to be skeered, pretty comfortable and confident in Atlanta.

Why would trade ATL to even consider jackson or Memphis where stab insurance premiums are even higher?

You clearly have never driven in Atlanta traffic.
It will take all of 90 mins to get there.. just a few more minutes than Auburn.
But the one thing you just can’t seem to understand; the Atlanta Spirts council would take the ACC championship every year over the SEC once every 4. The SEC isn’t about to let that happen.
So just let it go..
The current contract ends in 2026 but has the option to renew 2 consecutive 5 year extensions..
In other words it will be there until at least 2036.

It really needs to be just houston or Dallas. Move away from the poor part of the country to places with wealth and disposal income.
By that measure Houston nor Dallas fares well compared to Atlanta...Houston average income is 96% of that in Atlanta, Cost of living is 2.5% higher and unemployment is 3.7% higher. Dallas fares even worse at 93% income, 4.4% higher cost of living and unemployment is 2.7% higher in Dallas than Houston. On average Atlanta is younger, has more disposable income (income versus cost of living) and less unemployment. Atlanta job growth over the last 20 years is 3 times higher than that of either Dallas or Houston and projected job growth is 3 times higher than either. Health care is better in Atlanta than it is in Dallas and Houston, Atlanta has nearly twice as many people with bachelors, masters, doctorates and post doctorate education than Houston and Dallas. The only advantage Houston or Dallas has is violent and property crimes are .001% higher in Atlanta and housing costs are a little less than 1% higher. Atlanta is far more diverse than Dallas and comparable to Houston making for an interesting cultural mix almost unheard of in the southern half of the US.

No doubt they will whine and snivel about the game being in Atlanta but they will rarely have the opportunity to whine about having to go to Atlanta for the game unless they want to watch 2 of the original SEC teams play one another OR watch one of the original SEC teams stomp a mudhole in, and walk it dry, one of the johny come lately SEC teams....

Nashville is almost devoid of hotel rooms. Rooms in Motel 6's in Nashville are as expensive as the Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta. A better airport and a better stadium is not going to alleviate the lack of hotel beds in Nashville...
I just looked on Booking at a random weekend in August....4 star hotels in Atlanta averaged $244 per night and $570 per night in Nashville. 3 stars were worse at $170 and $485 respectively...even worse for 5 star luxury hotels...only 2 in all of the Nashville area and they were each nearly $1200 a night compared to 21 in Atlanta at an average of $310 a night.

I mean. It doesn’t take long to put up hotels. I’m not so sure that “Nashville hotels are currently expensive” is really a reason. That’s not how markets work.
