In 2000 LSU students stormed the field 3 times. First was upsetting top 10 ranked Tenn in OT. Goal posts came down.
Next was upsetting #13 Miss St in OT. Goal posts came down.
Then 2 weeks later it was for beating Bama at home for the first time in like 20 or 30 years or something. That time I remember vividly bc I was with some friends on the field off to the side not actively participating in the madness. The cops had surrounded the goal post by the student section and were doing a great job of keeping the crowd off of them. Then a student got on a other student's shoulders, took his shirt off and gave a rally speech to the crowd. Like screaming pointing, he had the crowd screaming back in support- I'm talking this dude was the William Wallace of the student section that day. He ended the speech telling everyone to charge the cops. Which they did. Him still on his friend's shoulders pointing and charging at the goal posts. Cops won. Kids were beat and pepper sprayed. Saw someone we knew come out the pile all messed up in the face.
The next year when LSU beat Auburn in a game to send the winner to Atlanta, LSU had greased up the goal posts. So much so you could see it from the stands. And when the students went after them they kept sliding down them. Couldn't make it happen. Cops weren't needed.

They fined the schools. Some have the money to afford it and let it happen now and then some cant afford it so cant let it happen.

Goalposts didn’t come down and it wasn’t a true field rushing like the Tenn and Bama games that year.
They put Vaseline on the goalposts before the Bama game and tried to keep people off the field but eventually they gave up and one goalpost still came down.
Florida 1997 both goalposts came down
