The gist of the question was representing the SEC vs. OOC teams. LSU beat all OOC teams. Bammer didn't.

You came from a huge deficit to beat Troy and beat the living daylights out of a middle ACC team.

We beat the crap out of a middle ACC team and lost to what will probably be the #3 ranked team at the end of the season. Hardly an embarrassment.

Oh, ok. Yall beat up a middle of the road ACC team. And your QB has one full game under his belt going into next season. Yep.. National Champs, I see now.

yea, but by the end of the season was LSU the #2 team in the conf? Vandy had a better SEC record than LSU.
Again this isnt who had the worst year (as an LSU fan, going 8-5 was a pretty bad follow up to the MNC)
who did worse representing the SEC. When the #2 SEC team (congrats BAMA) loses to Utah, thats bad. 10 point favorites didnt show for the 1st quarter-bad.
Bama certainly had a better year, but did not represent the SEC as well as OLE Miss ( was not supposed to do anything, nearly beat Wake @ Wake, then beat TT.) BAMA's w against Clemson saved the SEC's tail at the time, but it was big BECAUSE bama wasnt supposed to be good and Clemson was going to win the ACC.

Again, I still think TENN wins this hands down, all the rest is for 2nd and third.

Jeezus Gump, put down the kool-aid!

No one is arguing LSU stunk it up for some games this season, what I said that you instinctively (seemingly anyway) jumped all over is that fact that LSU has fixed the problem. Which given the evidence of weeks of preparation and game planning to do - THEY HAVE. LSU held them to 3 points, a season low after they came off very compelling games against UGA and Miami. MOST, if not ALL pundits picked GT to school us (I'm certain you did too, but since we have, suddenly they're JUST a mid ACC team) and the fact is undeniable that we got our shite together and routed them. Alabama, STILL CHOKES and still comes out flat at the end of the season and was humiliated by a Utah team that EVERYONE fully expected Alabama was going to impose it's will upon. Now suddenly, they're the better team, projected to finish 3, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

LSU went out on a very high note dominating a team most picked to dominate us -- 20 pts is what I believe ESPN was saying. MEANWHILE, St. Nick FOUND a way to go 12-0 in the reg season, and STILL end on a 2 game losing streak.

LSU has an 18 game winning streak against OOC teams -- that's no embarrassment to the SEC. Being the doormat to a MWC team (lest I also bring up ULM last year) is an embarrassment. Bama had all the firepower to destroy that team and they stunk it up. That's all GUMP, run along.

I'm sure this has been mentioned (not reading the entire flamed out thread) but Alabama lost to teams that very well may be the #1 and #2 teams in the final poll. How this is worse than sqeaking by Troy, losing five games, and getting half a hundred dropped on you TWICE, is beyond me.

Agreed, never said LSU had the better season overall. But when representing the SEC (presumably you do that against OOC teams) LSU's success is hard to argue --- and what was the score of that Troy game once LSU got it's heads out of it's collective arse -- I see a W in that column. Not saying it was pretty, but we did (eventually) come out on top

If Alabama's loss to Utah is embarrassing, then 1/14 of their season was an embarrassment.

LSU vs. Troy - embarrassing.
LSU vs. Ole Miss - embarrassing.
LSU vs. Arkansas - embarrassing.
LSU vs. Georgia - embarrassing.
LSU vs. Florida - embarrassing.

All five of LSU's embarrassments are way worse than Alabama's arguably embarrassing night.

5/13 > 1/14

The teams that hung half a hundred on us were SEC, so while we stank it up, there were two other SEC teams that came out smelling like roses.
You've got a good point about Troy. We could say having Tulane keep it close was almost as bad.

Please stop saying how great Utah was/is. They are still Utah. You are still ALABAMA, the past pride of the SEC, and in no way should y'all have lost to dem utes.
While it may not have been a bad loss for some bama fans, it WAS bad for the perception that the SEC is the best conf.

WHICH IT IS!!!!

No matter what you call them, they're one of the five best teams in the nation.

For LSU fans to call Alabama's BCS non-success an embarrassment is about like Iowa saying that Ohio State is an embarrassment to the Big Ten.

Wait a minute. That was 35-10 and their lone td came off a pick 6. While sloppy, that game was never in question.

As for Troy,I find it odd that Alabama fans would point to that as a source of embarrassment.Whereas no SEC team would dream of falling behind 31-3 to a SunBelt team,LSU did get off the mat and win by 9 pts .And,Troy did win its conference and go to a bowl game.Just a little over a year ago,Alabama LOST to a SunBelt team.

Win > Loss any day.

Again, one game is a long ways from having everything fixed. We crushed Arky, Tenn, Auburn. Three teams, but we still showed weaknesses. Just because you beat a team that is middle of the road, does not mean yall have fixed everything. You still have a QB with little experience. And you had weeks to prepare for a one-dimensional team and did a good job. Us, not so much.

We had a compelling win against UGA too. Miami sux.

I expected it, was wrong and they will finish in the top 3 in the polls. While I hate losing to anyone, our losses will be to 2 of the top 3 teams in the nation this year. Yours, not so much.

What three teams were the worst at reprersenting the SEC this year?

1- Tenn, by a lot. loss to bad UCLA, escape vs N Illinois, and then loss vs Wyoming. They wernt expected to be great, but that 1st loss hurt a lot.

2- S Carolina, yea they beat NC ST, but they got destroyed by Iowa and Clemson to end the season. Horrible for a middle of the road SEC team.

3- Alabama. The Clemson win was big, but for a top 5 SEC "powerhouse" to get humiliated by Utah,

South Carolina - not surprising, this year or any year.

They've remained 2nd to Vanderbilt as the all-time worst SEC team [1992-2008: 39.3% winning percentage; 0 SEC Championships...Vanderbilt 1933-2008: 23.8%; 0].

Or rather...

LSU calling Alabama's loss to Utah an embarrassment is like ML Carr calling Larry Bird an embarrassment to the Celtics.

???
Alabama 20, Tulane 6 (and Alabama 34, Clemson 10).

[ETA: Ah, of course...LSU 35, Tulane 10.]
