yea i can't look to a crystal ball to make me feel better BUT i CAN look forward to having new vidoes after we beat yall again in your stadium....

Bama has beaten LSU the past 2 times the teams have played and is 4-2 in the last 6 matchups. Another way to look at it, LSU is 2-4 against Bama in the last 6 matchups.

quote:

The only teams they played with a pulse, they struggled and were pretty dominated, 2 of the 3 they were just fricking lucky.

The A&M game was ugly for a qtr. Bama settled in and outplayed A&M the rest of the way, as was evident by the close final score after A&M jumped out to a 20-0 lead.

The LSU game was only "ugly" in the 3rd qtr. Bama led at the half 14-3. They were down 17-14 with 13 minutes to go in the 4th. It wasn't a fun game for a Bama fan to watch b/c it was so tight and you guys kept converting 3rd downs (to you credit), but that game was an AJ fumbled hand off away from being out of LSU's reach.

I can only assume those were the 2 "ugly" games you were referring to. Bama vs UGA was not ugly (over 500 yds of O, 300+ rushing, 15 minute T.O.P. advantage, 26 1st downs to 18, etc).

2011 was a dominant, special team.

2012 is a solid team with a good defense, and an experienced QB. They caught a lot of breaks, and had quite a bit of good luck.

So 2012 is like most BCS champions, while 2011 was an all time great.

2011 was 14+ points better than this year's bunch, and so was the 2011 version of LSU.

in 2012 the Alabama roster had different players on it, aside from the people who returned from the 2011 team..... that's probably one key difference

And the fact that a mulligan was not required this time. That too is a difference in 2011 and 2012.

And different types of players. The D is younger. On O the team was Trent heavy in 2011, while in 2012 they were very balanced (2 backs over 1,000 yards). The 2011 team had tons of veterans in key roles - Hightower, Dre, Baron, Trent, Barret Jones, Upshaw, etc. The 2012 team only has a few vets in key roles - Jones, AJ, CJ, Lester. Most of the key roles in 2012 were filled with younger players like TJ, Cyrus K, Cooper, etc.

I actually thought Nico Jhonson would have played more of a leader role this year along with CJ. he didn't make as much of a splash as many probably anticipated

I would say one big difference is AJ continues to mature. He's become a reliable qb. He should b scary good next yr if the trend continues. He's not elite, but certainly not a game manager type either. Best qb Bama has had in a decade or more. I expect him to be a decent pro at the least. I think the most telling measure of a qb is the 2 min drill, shows his heart and fight under pressure. He's accurate and has good touch on the ball. This is the real edge Bama has in the natty over ND. All the w's are contingent on the qb no matter how good one's d is. LSU fans know this all too well...

Easily. It's disgusting that JFF was even invited to the Heisman.

The defense is obviously far worse but I also have to say that this year's Bama offense is light years better than last year's squad. They are significantly improved at every offensive unit except for RBs. Also, special teams has been excellent outside of the Georgia game. Alabama is 18th in the nation in punting average and Shelley's been perfect in field goal and extra point attempts this year. As we all know, special teams single-handedly cost Alabama the LSU game last year.

Not as good as the '09

I think this team is better than the 09 team. Yeah the 09 team was a great team that played an extremely tough schedule, but it wasn't the "best" by any means. 2011 would have blown the 09 team out, and I think this year's team would beat the 09 team by around 6. The 09 team was questionable on offense at times.

Depends on which McElroy shows up. I like '09 Bama's chances if the decent, competent McElroy, the one who played well against Virginia Tech, Auburn, Florida, and the second half of the LSU game shows up. But if he plays as poor as he did in the middle part of that year, you can forget about it.

Not I. I have a lot more confidence in the '09 defense shutting down the '12 offense than I do about the '12 defense keeping Ingram and Richardson in check.

I'm sensing a girlfriend issue. No other explanation for it.
