House Bolton is pretty powerful. State is more like House Umber, IMO.

Personally I thought you'd enjoy being titled the "Bolton Bastard".
But yeah they're a powerful house to be sure, really damn powerful, but for the most part they can't measure up to the Big Houses powers. They're definitely among the strongest of the smaller houses though.

Manderly
Bolton
Frey
Hightower

Good job, althought I have no idea what any of that means. I do appreciate a good post though.

Here's my take on it. I've got some non-houses in there that I think are just better comparisons.
Alabama - House Lannister
Lannisters always pay their debts. Unless of course, they need a little more room on the roster, and need to "process" you. Alabama is simply the king. They took the throne, and they won't budge. They have all the money. All the power. They've got guys so big and strong they could decapitate a horse in one chop. They've got an egotistical dwarf that nobody wants to frick with. Every good story needs a powerful villain, and Alabama provide that Lannister touch.
Tennessee - House Stark
Defenders of the north, House Stark is stuck in what could be an endless battle with the Lannisters. Much like the Starks, UT were once kings of their portion of the realm. Over time, power has faded, and before they knew it, their charismatic leader was gone (to USCw), with no hope in sight. Is courageous young Dooley going to find himself at a red wedding of his own before long?
Auburn - House Baratheon
There's never been a better example of "little brother" than Robert's little Brother, Stannis. Much like Auburn, he never really gets his share of the respect. Even when Stannis has the best military minds, ships, and magic on his side (It's a Red God thing). The Lannisters have all the power, and the kind of money that buys loyalty. Even after multiple undefeated seasons, Auburn gets little respect. No matter how many battles Stannis wins, he can't dethrone the Lannisters.
Vanderbilt - Order of Maesters
The smartest in the kingdom find themselves training to be a Master. It's a thankless job, and you wind up subservient to almost every house in the book. They will never tip the scales to decide who wins the throne, but you can assume they'll be there, peering at you through thick glasses, when it all goes down.
Georgia - House Tully
The successes and failures of house Tully all center around one quality - pride. Pride bordering on arrogance that leads you to fall into traps, or pride that keeps you from giving into an a siege, even when facing sure death. Yes, pride that allows you to keep breeding defective Ugas, and pride that leads to wearing power ranger jumpsuits as you get bushwhacked by Boise State. Perhaps pride will be Georgia's saving grace, keeping the right amount of pressure on a never-bad Richt.
South Carolina - House Frey
It's hard to turn from a nobody into a somebody faster than South Carolina did. That is, of course, unless you plan on murdering the king in the north at his own uncle's wedding. There's one surefire way to accomplish this - have an ancient, seething, evil patriarch. For the Freys, it's old Walder Frey. For South Carolina, it's Steve Spurrier.
Mississippi State - Brotherhood Without Banners
Under the leadership of Dondarion, the Knights of Hollow Hill aren't trying to topple a house - they simple want to kill off enough bandits to survive. MSU knows a thing or two about not being world beaters. Both groups are dedicated to their cause, and nobody on the outside can comprehend why. Their fight may be just, but nobody knows or cares about them until they stumble into their sparsely populated neck of the woods.
Florida - House Targaryen
Isn't it enough that they both revere big lizards? On top of that, House Targaryen is the royalty of the previous era - much as Florida spent plenty of time as the kings of the conference. The most recent Targaryen king was put down because of a serious decline in health. Urban Meyer can sympathize. The real question is if Muschamp is Dany, who slowly gained respect and fought her way to power, or Viserys, who failed to please his new soldiers, and was eliminated.
Missouri - Wildlings
Missouri is the wild north. The enemy. Or so we thought. It turns out, the wildlings, much like Missouri, have been fighting against the real enemy all along. Both are new additions to the realm, and both are a tough sell for many people. When it comes down to it, in the end, we could probably use them both.
LSU - House Greyjoy
LSU, like house Greyjoy, are strange, mean water-people. Nobody holds a grudge like the Cajuns. Much like the Greyjoys, an LSU fan will invade your shores, kick you while you're down, and put out a lawn chair to heckle you from. House Greyjoy lost its wise old leader Balon, just as LSU lost Saban. The leadership of the house was taken over by a batshit crazy sailor named Euron Crow's Eye. This should feel very familiar to LSU fans with their own riverboat rambler, Les Miles.
Arkansas - House Bolton
House Bolton rose to power simply because there was space that needed to be filled. With all of the traditionally talented SEC east teams at a low point, Arkansas stepped up to fill that void. The Boltons will gloat about their power over the entire north, but have no crown, and will never match the power of the Lanisters (Alabama). Do not underestimate the Boltons, or Arkansas, when you show up to their doorstep, you could be skinned alive.
Ole Miss - House Tyrell
House Tyrell is full of pretty people. Lacking the clout and infantry power of greater houses, they must use cunning to get any advantage they can. Houston Dale was so cunning that the SEC needed to make a rule named after him. A highlight of the Tyrell family is Loras of the Kingsguard. Widely known for his talent, rumors also float around about his sexuality. Ole Miss fans can sympathize, they have Shephard Smith.
Kentucky - The Black Brothers
As the SEC's former northernmost member, they manned the wall. Much in the way that the black brothers care nothing about the squabble over the crown, UK stays out of any SEC race - simply accepting whoever is king at the time. They are more focused on their duty - defending the realm, or in Kentucky's case, making the SEC relevant in basketball.
Texas A&M - House Martell
Both are the people of an incredibly strange, far away land. They are disrespected and forgotten about until they make their presence known. Much like the aTm's military background, the Dornish are a warrior people. In both groups, the women are not pretty little things - they are warriors.
Alabama - House Lannister

From what I recall, the bulk of their might is ships, right? I could be very wrong, been a while.

Hump's was good too, but LSU as House Baratheon is spot on in the original OP. Vanderbilt as the meastors was perfect though

The Redwynes have a navy but they are bannermen to the Tyrells.

12) Tennessee- House Targaryen: Once this house was a ruler of the conference and a house to be greatly feared. They made all the other houses take the knee, and were able to destroy anyone in their path. Not anymore though. The Mad King Kiffin came forth and proposed many insane things, and that made the other houses rebel against him, leading to this house's demise. They are a mere joke and a shell of what they once were. Yet hope does remain. It will be a while before they amass an army to retake the conference. Sure the other houses continue to laugh at them, but you would be a fool to underestimate them
That makes us the Lord High Commander's of the Black Watch! Now the black uniform arguements will never end.

South Carolina - House Frey - It seems like you always have to go through them in order to win the SEC championship but they are really not respected by the other houses.

This thread is exceedingly GAY.

A&M shouldn't be House Martell. Martell women are gorgeous, A&M .... USC women are hot and love their cocks. Much can be said about Martell women.
Texas A&M should be House Frey! The Kingdom respects House Frey because of their control of a bridge. A&M only received an invite because they offer ratings to the state of Texas which is comparable to the fact that Frey is only accepted because of his access to crossing the river!
Also A&M is just as weird as House Frey.....
Vandy should definitely be Baelish or the Eunuch(or perhaps both as they seem to be in league together). Petyr and the Eunuch are by far the most intelligent, cunning and devious characters in the novel. Remember the scene where they "gaze at each other as equals." They are the smartest people in the room.
Also despite the Eunuchs lack of lands he is still a lord. The last book shows that the Lannisters are nothing but mere puppets given power by Petyr and the Eunuch to destroy a nation.
This thread reminds me of that popular thread from a blog about the SEC as Muppets.

They started this whole war and manipulated every aspect of this war. They use the all-powerful Lannisters as puppets, and they keep them in power to destroy their own nation.
