With the relative parity of today's era (minus bama under saban...I mean compared to the WW2 era where only like 3 teams had a real shot) it's not that surprising to me. People always want to crow about UGA not having in since '80, but plenty of big time schools had MAJOR droughts as well.

LSU: 1958-2003, 45 years
Texas: 1970-2005, 35 years
Ohio State: 1968-2002, 34 years
Auburn: 1957-2010, 53 years
Tennessee: 1951-1998, 47 years
Notre Dame: 1988-present, 29 and counting with no end in sight

Honestly it makes it even MORE impressive what teams like UF/Bama/LSU/Nebraska/FSU/etc have been able to do the last few decades have been able to do with winning multiples in short spurts

What is even scarier is at least the first 10 years all these "offensive powerhouses" from other conferences (Ohio State and Oklahoma come to mind) were limited to only 3 TD's max per game and some were garbage TD's late in the game. When the Sooners faced Florida I think they has set the single season scoring record at 45 to 55 points per game avg. Ran into Florida and scored what 14 points.

They speak of SEC speed but it really seems to be SEC defense wins championships

Not saying it would have mattered, but OU against Florida was without star RB Demarco Murray to injury. But, with the offensive firepower in the passing game, that should have been more effective.

Oklahoma is 0-3 vs the SEC in Championship situation bowls (LSU, Florida, Georgia).

As long as the SEC dominates in recruiting, they'll continue to dominate. Those desperate to see SEC dominance end have a long wait ahead of them.

Almost as Auburn fans like being reminded they have won one in the last 60 years.
But Auburn is gud!
Nowhere near as much fun as reminding them their parents had never seen a barn national title.

They had to go and mess that up...
