I realize that, but Arkansas has more money to sustain another school. I just don't think they'd be at your level with another school in the state. They'd certainly be diminished, though.

What makes you think we wouldn't? Both states are similar in population, and MIssissippi actually produces more high school talent than Arkansas.

Fact is, the money boosters, alumni, and players are split between two major universities. If there was one university, then the whole state would support that one university, and it would have more money for facilities, more students and bigger campus, and would get all the in state recruits to itself.

A lot of our top instate talent go to other schools because OM and MSU have always been mediocre, and they want to win championships. We can't win at that level because we always split recruits, and that lack of winning runs off the top talent.

If we had one college, in the past we would have had better years due to not splitting recruits, and we would be able to keep instate talent in our state. We would be just as good as Arkansas if not better due to MS producing better talent than Arkansas.

If Arkansas had a major university, such as an Ag school like MSU, in say LIttle Rock where there is plenty of people, local money, and close proximity to the delta farmers and all the cattle farms in the hills, and that school was in the SEC, then you would see a similar scenario like OM and MSU. Arkansas and MIssissippi have similar populations.

So you are saying that Arkansas Tech is on Miss. State's level, OK.

Arkansas State was a powerhouse at moments before 1992, UCA could be on that same level. Arkansas State has the same little brother syndrome as Ms. State but it is largely unnoticed or flat out ignored in this state.

You may as well place the blame on Southern Miss since you have taken the level of retard this far...

Agree - Arky = MSU = OM with another equal sized SEC school in state.

LSU to a lesser extent if you take away the built in birth right to LSU of 8-10 D1 in state athletes. It would be great to see LSU lose a recruiting battle to an in-state SEC school.

I have already answered this. To put it simply, Arkansas has more money.

We also do not rely on instate talent, less so now than in the past when we were mediocre as hell under Nutt.

Ms. State and OM are just as capable of going out of state as we have done, so there is more to it than this bullshite reasoning.

They don't have that much money... it's mostly Tyson Foods and Wal Mart. Think about this, if there was a major ag university in Little Rock similar to MSU, then Tyson foods would likely support it instead of U of A, due to their products being mostly chicken. That's a lot of revenue that U of A would lose, and it would hurt them.

Combine the total donations to both MS schools, and then look at the donations to Arkansas. I'd like to see the comparison.

If Alabama beats LSU in the national championship, the state of Alabama will have the most national championships of any state. It's why Alabama is arguably the greatest CFB program ever. They've had to compete with legitimate in-state competition in a small state and they still have 8 NCs, 22 SEC Championships, 30+ bowl wins, etc... I can't imagine how good Alabama would be if there was no Auburn to compete for top in-state talent.

Your a fricking idiot, I never said that. I said "if" there was a major university similar to MSU in little rock.

ASU is in the Sun Belt, a lesser conference so they pose little threat to stealing recruits. If one of those schools was the size of MSU or OM and was in the SEC, it'd be a different story which is the point trying to be made but your too fricking ignorant to realize that

What size are these schools?

Arkansas is around 19k
Arkansas State is around 14k
UCA is around 14k
Tech is around 10k

Tech is an hour away from Little Rock.
UCA is 15 minutes away from Little Rock.
UALR is in Little Rock

Uh, no. Tech is an agri-school with several agri-based degree programs.

The Walton's have donated a shite load of money to every university in the state in some form or another, including a small private school of less than 5k students where they have over half of the buildings on campus named after members of their family.

Small potatoes, right?

Also, don't forget that Saban sends a lot of money to Arkansas on a constant basis.
