These rules don't actually exist.

They used 14.01.01 as the bylaw in question here, which is basically a piggyback off of NCAA eligibility rules.

The problem for the conference is that anyone playing under a TRO is also in violation of 14.01.01, which opens a massive can of worms.

It's not the NCAA enforcing it.

Sure, but again, 14.01.01 is basically an SEC bylaw which states that all players within the SEC must abide by NCAA guidelines to compete, practice, or receive financial aid.

Any player not eligible by NCAA guidelines is technically in violation of 14.01.01, the conference just isn't currently enforcing it. Which becomes a problem if the conference tries to say that LSU violated 14.01.01 while they're turning a blind eye to multiple other institutions also violating the exact same bylaw.

My biggest issue with Sankey was adding OU and Texas without getting a boast in money. That should have been very easy to accomplish for a competent commissioner. Colossal failure there. ESPN got what they wanted which was killing The Longhorn network failure.

Back when we were kids, nobody knew the SEC commissioner’s name. It would be a gentle older guy you’d see at a random
bowl game every couple years wearing an SEC logo blazer.

Coaches weren't making $12 Million a year and brands weren't worth $1.5 billion. It was also back in the day when they nodded and winked when they called players student athletes and talked about the integrity of "amateur athletics". It did not cost $10K a year in donations to be eligible to buy season tickets with a $200 face value per ticket per game or $1000 to buy a couple of tickets for a father and son to attend a game in person. Finally Dr. Pepper didn't own the spot in its entirety. Times have changed.

I have to agree the last 3 years are bad with the playoffs and the Big 10. It's so bad the SEC Champions can't even win a playoff game in the expanded playoff.
