a guy i graduated with from high school went to play for a SEC team (not going to name names) and his family was not well off at all.
the summer after he signed he was driving a new escalade (older model, but still). he was from a single parent home, and i know his mom didnt have a great job and he had no job.
people thought it was a little fishy but no one really said anything because i think most people accepted the fact that he was due that for being a good player and signing with a good program. and no, it was not a UT player.
im not trying to make a claim that a booster definitely help him get it, but i wouldn't doubt it. i think a lot of players go on spending sprees in college because they think they will go pro someday and be able to pay it back or be able to pay off huge credit card bills.
in addition, improper benefits are extremely common when players go back home. it's easy for boosters and regular fans to give a kid who plays for your team a discount or meal or product for free because you know they are working their butt off and, in most cases, come from a financially burdened home.

No $500 wouldnt be a life changer but it would make for 2 or 3 fun weekends. Its when you get $500 per play, per sack, per tackle, for saying your coming to Auburn, etc is when it becomes a problem.

Would $500 be a life changer to you right now? Even if you are not that well off or have parents who can back you, lets face it, $500 would not last long.
My point being. Do these "boosters" who supposedly pass along a hundred or two to these kids, really think they are helping or is it just a ego thing?
No, I'd just have more drinking money for the next few months.

I'm in college, I would love for a random 500 dollars, it wouldn't last long though. My parents pay my rent, meal plan, and books. I had to take out a student loan to pay my tuition and I work in the summer to save bout 6 thousand up for my partying and such during the school year. So yea an extra 500 here and there would be awesome I'd put it toward my loan.

Are you admitting something here?
Why, do you need a quick $500?

I remember a basketball player who used to play against my high school driving a Chevorlet Avalanche (won't name the person or school).
He was able to park in front of the school's union and everything.

$500 is in some cases the most money these kids have ever seen.
I highly doubt that, you ever seen how much a kid can knock down with S.S. check? I had a friend in high school that got $300 a month because his dad was "disabled" but worked on the side.

I could have used it five years ago in college. Would have made my last semester at Alabama even more epic.

LOL. i hear you
But to answer your original question. Hell no. Damn games cost me enough as it is. LOL
Drive from North Georgia to Auburn at least 8 times per year.. Usually to away games. Bowl game if we make it. Apparel for three, food, beer for tailgate.
I dont even care to ever add it up.
