This ball really started rolling, with Mullen, because of Samford.
And again - Mullen had early success. Tubby Smith had first year success at Kentucky Basketball as well - and we all waited around while he patiently proved he could win a title with somebody else's players, and never build a damn thing on his own. But, since he got a Natty - we had to go through the process until he got back to back 9-7 seasons in the SEC. I guess.
I don't blame Florida one bit in this case. Mullen was not the guy for Gainesville. Probably do a good job in Lexington. Was doing a great job in Starkville - where he should have stayed.

Mullen self-destructed. If he could recruit he might have prolonged the verdict. But he can't and Kirby is the guy you are being compared with.

Bobby Bowden would've been fired at any point between 1981 and 1986 today
1976: 5-6
1977: 10-2
1978: 8-3
1979: 11-1
1980: 10-2
1981: 6-5
1982: 9-3
1983: 8-4
1984: 7-3-2
1985: 9-3
1986: 7-4-1
At the SEC schools with modern championships that would have got him fired after 83 probably.

Saban has completely ruined other programs perceptions of what success is
I don't actually agree with this. It's a popular opinion, but is there a ton of evidence backing it up? I think Saban has fricked up fan perceptions for sure, but how many coaches have been fired simply for not being as good as Nick Saban? Les, Richt, and maybe Gus are the only 3 I'd say fall into that category.
The money involved in the sport has been a much stronger driving force than Saban when it comes to the "prove it by year 3 or you're on the hot seat in year 4" attitude that has become so prevalent. You can't afford (literally) to keep a guy who starts out 12-24 in his first 3 seasons based on the hope that there will be a payoff in another few years.

He will also recognize their talent that got them the HC job in the first place & hire them to his staff to harness said talent. Dude is playing chess while everyone else is playing with their peckers

Crazy to think the only coach on that list to win a championship - other than Saban - is special Ed.

Crazier to think the only one besides Saban with a title at his current school is the one getting fired

Mullen is at fault due to lack of talents and is lazy in recruiting. He is much better fit to be in the NFL. Good place to start is go where Urban Meyers is at and build his way up again to be a HC or may just stick with OC in the NFL.

What’s craziest is that he has fully earned getting fired.
