The real SEC champion is the winner of the SEC tournament. Regular Season champion just gives you the top seed in the conference tournament. The conference tournament champion is the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, and if we won the conference tournament but wasn’t the regular season champ people here would be saying the regular season champ was the real champion. We already saw this spiel a couple of years ago.

My response isn’t a knock on Tennessee. That’s my thought on it in general. I know my opinion doesn’t matter. But this isn’t unusual. Even though ACC programs claim regular season titles, the ACC doesn’t officially crown a regular season champion. The conference tournament champion is the conference champion. This goes back to the early days when the conference sent one team to the tournament by virtue of the winner of the conference tournament.

The SEC crowns two champions…the regular season champ(s) AND the tournament champs.
The tournament champs get the auto-bid, which is meaningless for over 95% of the tournament winners (1985 Auburn says “hold my beer”).
Do you even know which conference the University of Oklahoma (OU….ok, I’m now seeing a pattern of confusion) will be joining this summer?

Agree… SEC Champion is whoever wins the regular season. I hope the VOLS rest for the SECt.
