As freshmen, and as seniors. Who knows, maybe even another year.

Been a D1 school for 20 years, and member of the ASUN conference since 2020.

Pretty successful former DII school (won the DII NC in 2011) that moved to DI in the 20-21 season. Won the ASUN in 2022 but wasn't eligible for the NCAA Tournament bid (which was a pretty big NCAA Basketball story) because of the 4 year waiting period when you reclassify divisions. Former long time HC, Scotty Davenport was an assistant at Louisville under Denny Crum as well as Rick Pitino.

So, you just don't know ball then?

My bad, I thought they went D1 a long time ago.

It was a long time coming. They had been building up facilities for a bit and took some other sports D1 before they made the jump in basketball.

Thought at one point that UofL was going to hire Davenport after the hooker scandal to steward the program through violations. Didn't happen though.

How does everyone feel about their team this season? We have looked like poop in our 2 exhibition games that I watched, losing ot Baylor and playing tight vs Stetson. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost to Miami tonight. We have a way to go imo, but I think we will be a good team eventually. 3 point shooting will once again be our downfall.

I read the UK won all 3 of their exhibition games.

Completely new team, and I mean completely new. The coach is newish.

It will be much better than anything the last guy trotted out on the court. I'm looking forward to watching basketball again.

LSU basketball has become interesting again and you haven't played a game. People will definitely be watching what happens in Red Stick with tPear back at the helm.

Now you guys just need to hire Tony Vitello when Jay retires and you will truly be the most hated school in the country all year long.

They did.

And the fanbase managed to still freak out.

I think they're probably ranked appropriately at this point (#23 in AP) given what we've seen so far and some guys coming off injury so we're not real sure how good they are. They play Kansas next week so that'll be a good benchmark for where they're at.

It's make or break for Pope though. If he doesn't get to an Elite Eight he's likely gone (especially with JBatt as AD now and Barnhart gone).

Damn. Elite 8 or bust. I guess that is what happens when you become the basketball coach at Kentucky. I understand it, and kudos to you guys for demanding excellence.

I've had 2 nephews and a niece all go there on swimming scholarships and all graduated with honors. It's a private Catholic school in Louisville KY. They competed in DI in swimming.

I wouldn't put too much stock in exhibition games. The game with Miami should be an interesting one.

I like our roster, and will like it even more if Owen Freeman can stay healthy for a whole season. I think CSP will get us back in the NCAAT and maybe, if things go well, make a Sweet 16 run. I would prefer another Final Four or better, but I don't think that is realistic.

We got Pettiford and Overton back, so we have decent guards and we brought in two 7-footers to address last year's lack of size and a true 5. That said, one is huge and very raw, the other has skills but is kind of flimsy.

We brought in some experienced mid-major type players, in Dowd and Olsen who should provide depth and hustle. Both shot well at their previous schools (Troy and USA). We also have a promising true freshman in Caleb Williams who I think will play a lot this year.

I don't think we will vie for the SEC crown this year, but I could see us finishing 5-6th in what looks to be a very strong conference.
