I didn't know James Franklin was still close with the Vanderbilt team and Corbin

No thanks. Someone else can be #1 overall. Just give us a top 8 seed somewhere.

Nice play by the Vandy third baseman.

Yeah, was more just saying that I've seen a couple times now this narrative that Vanderbilt has been inconsistent. First half of the SEC season? Definitely. Second half? Not sure there's been a more consistent team out there.

We went 6-4 in SEC series just like the Hogs did- and we didn't get to play Mizzou and SC.
And Arkansas didn’t get to play Kentucky or Florida early in the season when they were still struggling.
Arkansas did play the other top 4 finishers in the SEC overall and went 7-2 against Vandy, Texas, and LSU with two of those three series being on the road.

interesting to see how Hooks can perform on the big stage.

They won their last three series which was against Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Not sure any of the other top 4 finishers in the league would have done any differently against those three teams.
Prior to that…Lost opening series to Auburn, swept aTm…got swept at home by Arkansas…swept Florida…lost series to Oklahoma…swept Georgia…lost series to Ole Miss…then finished with Bama, Tenner, and Kentucky.
Even with the end of schedule against weaker SEC teams, they were still a roller coaster all season long.
I’m not saying they don’t deserve a top 8 seed…but to have them seeded above Texas, LSU, or Arkansas isn’t justified IMO.

Arky didn't play road series at rpi #s 2, 3, and 10 either.
Inconsistency is losing 4 of the last 6 SEC series, including 3 in a row at one point.

I agree and don’t care if we’re above or below any of those teams. As long as we’re Top 8, which obviously is guaranteed at this point.

I don't think they should be above Texas or Arkansas either.
But if they were so inconsistent, then they wouldn't have won four of their last five series and 11 of their last 15 SEC games.

You’re correct…Arkansas played at #1, #2, and #10 going 6-3 in those games.

Arkansas didn’t get swept in any series this season, and certainly not at home. Arkansas also added a sweep of #1 and SEC Champion Texas in that mix. Finished the season 6-3 against Texas, @ LSU, and Tennessee.

And that’s all that matters.

I agree that's impressive.
But you can't simultaneously say Tennessee at home is a good series win for y'all while counting them as part of the "bottom" teams that Vanderbilt played to close out the year (and Vanderbilt had to play at Tennessee).

Collectively, I’m saying Texas, LSU, and Tennessee aren’t equal to finishing against Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The former is playing mid to top half of league teams and the latter is playing mid to lower half SEC teams.

And went 3-6 in the three series before including a series loss to A&M. The model of inconsistency.
The Hogs have a heckuva team but they faltered down the stretch.

so far not so good.
Our pitching has absolutely come out of nowhere to be scary good in this tournament against some very good offenses.
Elliott, Morris, Maddox, and Spencer have been unhittable for the past month.
Our bats are dogshit however, and we won't get to Omaha because of it.

Good piece of pitching there. Wasted opportunity for us.

Pitching has absolutely grown into the season. But bats will be our problem as we are basically dead average in all the main statistics
