If you lose game one, you can still win only playing 4 games. If you lose game 2, it takes 5. We just don’t have enough pitching for 5 games. We can recover after a game 1 loss, but not after a game 2 loss.

Edit: sorry. I’m a little slow. This is wrong. I’m giving myself a downvote.

Doesn't matter. A&M will be assimilated by Gator baseball tonight.

UF: Freshman RHP Liam Peterson | WL 3-4, 5.97 ERA, 72 SO, 36 BB
A&M: sophomore LHP Justin Lamkin | WL 2-2, 5.73 ERA, 71 SO, 19 BB

Looks pretty even other than the walks.

Should see a lot of runs scored.

And yes, I am aware I just jinked it and we will probably have a 1-0 pitchers duel because of me.

It doesn't matter when you lose...As soon as you do, it takes 5 games to make the Finals.

I don’t think it’s safe to assume Cortez is a starter. I fully expect him to pitch today and pitch a lot.

You sure?

If you lose game one, you wait to play an elimination game of the two winners. If you win that, you need two wins.

If you lose game two, you have to win game three, then game 4 and 5.

Am I missing something? I’m no baseball expert.

Edit: oh, wait. I see. I’m an idiot. If you lose game one, you still have to play the loser of the other game. I’m slow. The only way to win it in 4 is to stay in winner’s bracket.

Lamkin has not.

Sounds like insurance for a possible late run. Given injuries it seems smart to me.

If A&M wins today they're stronger on the back half.

Yep, and if you stay in the winner's bracket you can do it in as little as 3 games.

I'm no coach and haven't played in a baseball tourney in 15 years but it makes sense to me to put your best foot forward to begin with.

If your team is banged up your best foot may not be there for a few days. They probably see they need a little time to recuperate and are providing that.
