LSU is one of only 30 universities nationwide holding land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant status.

LSU is consistently ranked one of the Top 30 Research Universities in the nation by the Carnegie Institute; and brings in more than $150 million annually in outside research grants and contracts, a significant factor for the Louisiana economy.

The LSU campus landscaping was called “a botanical joy” and was listed as one of the top 20 best campuses in America in Thomas Gaines’s 'The Campus as a Work of Art.'

The Center for Academic Success, or CAS, LSU’s nationally acclaimed learning center, has garnered another national award. The National College Learning Center Association, or NCLCA, designated the CAS as one of only two Learning Centers of Excellence in the country.

LSU School of Veterinary Medicine recently ranked #12 in Best U.S. Veterinary Schools by Start Class.

LSU is rated as a top 50 best value among public universities and 88th overall in Forbes 2018 America’s Best Value Colleges rankings.

Louisiana State University received the 2017 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.

Two LSU Online degree programs were recently ranked among the top 20 online programs in the county. BestColleges.com has ranked LSU’s master’s degree in education program 11th overall, and Affordable Colleges Online has ranked LSU’s master’s degree in social work program 12th overall.

In its first time competing, a team of LSU accounting students placed first at the Deloitte National Accounting Case Competition, besting Brigham Young University, University of Notre Dame, University of Missouri, Florida A&M University and Miami University of Ohio.


Eduniversal released its annual best Masters rankings recently - fifth annual edition of these rankings, which rate 4,000 masters programs for 30 majors across the world.
- It ranked LSU's Business Master of Public Administration and Master of Science in Finance
programs 9th and 11th among public colleges and universities in the US.
o The LSU MPA program was ranked in the “Best Masters Ranking in Public Administration/Management” category.

LSU is the highest rated university in Louisiana on the list and the 44th best value among public universities in the nation, according to Forbes. Among SEC peers, LSU is the fifth best value ahead of Auburn University, University of Alabama, University of Kentucky, University of Mississippi and University of Missouri, among others.

The LSU Law Center moved up 12 spots to No. 82 in the latest law school rankings released today by U.S. News and World Report. The Law Center remained in the top 100 law schools in the nation in the closely watched rankings.

BI Software Insight, which offers objective research and reviews of business intelligence solutions, has named the LSU Master of Science in Analytics program among the nation’s top programs.

The School of Art in the LSU College of Art & Design was recently ranked as one of the top-10 animation school programs in the South, and a top-50 program in the nation by Animation Career Review.

LSU is located on more than 2,000 acres and is known for the 1,200 large oak trees, valued at over $50 million.

LSU has one of the oldest Opera programs in the nation, established in 1931. It has produced opera stars at the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera and more.

The undergraduate and graduate programs at the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture (RRSLA) have once again received top rankings from DesignIntelligence magazine, the leading journal of design professionals. “America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools” ranked the undergraduate program as Number One in the nation and the graduate program as number three in the nation, up three spots from last year.

The E. J. Ourso College of Business was ranked among the nation's best business schools by U.S. News & World Report.

The LSU Center for Internal Auditing is consistently ranked as one of the world's best programs.

LSU Department of Physics & Astronomy Professor Gabriela Gonzalez has been named one of the top 10 scientists in the world.

The world-renowned LSU Press received its fourth Pulitzer win for Claudia Emerson’s Late Wife.
LSU Press and continues an impressive streak that spans three decades. LSU Press’s first Pulitzer came in 1981, when John Kennedy Toole’s novel A Confederacy of Dunces became the first book published by a university press to win the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction.
LSU Press books and authors have garnered more than 400 national and international accolades.

LSU protects two ancient Indian Mounds on campus that were created by Native Americans more than 5,000 years ago and functioned as territorial markers or symbols of group identity. In 1999, the mounds were placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

LSU has Top 3 curricula in Entrepreneurship, Hurricane Engineering (one of a few in the nation studying formations, eye seeding, etc.) and Coastal Studies (erosion prevention, ecosystems, ecological factors.)

According to BI Software Insight, LSU’s program, housed in the Department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences, helps “meet the rising demand for data scientists and analysts who are capable of turning data into insights.”

LSU is the top university in the nation in granting Ph.D. degrees in chemistry to women and underrepresented minority students, according to a study published in the Journal of Chemical Education.

LSU’s undergraduate degree in human resources has been ranked in the “Top 25 Bachelor’s in Human Resources Degrees” by Human Resources MBA. LSU’s B.S. in management – human resources concentration is ranked eighth overall.

According to Washington Monthly's 2018 College Guide and Rankings, LSU ranked first in Louisiana higher education. Regarding earnings performance, LSU ranked first in the SEC and No. 8 among flagship universities nationwide. LSU also ranked No. 40 in affordability for universities.
LSU's Awarded $200K From Louisiana Sea Grant
The Louisiana Sea Grant awarded $200,000 to LSU's Manship School and College of Humanities and Social Sciences to fund research analyzing how managers communicate vital information to coast communities about hazardous conditions

They know how to cook some damn good food! They have pretty damn good football and baseball programs. One day I hope to go to a hog game there and tailgate with some LSU fans who dont mind sharing some tasty food!

He is one of the highest rated qbs n PFF. For one he never took a snap under a C till he arrived at LSU. He did well considering that among w/ new offense new team new school etc. and mash unit Oline for first 7 gsmes. 90.5 grade out of a 100 with a clean pocket. Around 70% completion if u take drops away. Wr group will improve but I worry abut that Oline

I love the food in Baton Rouge. Whenever I go there for a game I usually hang around a few days and pig out. We’ve go no boudin, or any other good Cajun cooking in north Florida.
