My reliable sources tell me both Saban and Sark are going to Texas and it’s all but a done deal. Being kept hush hush until after the playoffs as Saban knows this is the best team he has had and wants no distractions. Saban wants to build up one more program before he retires and Texas has the resources for him to do it.

Nope. Barner all the way. Unless it benefits Auburn, I hope Bama loses every game they play. I do, however, have a healthy respect for Saban and the REC, and what they've done at Bama. It is a group effort, for sure.

I do not know if Texas can fix what is broken at this point. I mean, they have a national profile and have basically ran the state of Texas forever but cannot seem to win.

Not sure what the deal is, but they're having an insanely hard time keeping boosters at bay and letting the AD and President run the show.

I get the frustration behind Herman and Charlie, because the program is huge with as many resources as anybody. But when nobody's on the same page, like now, it's a total shitstorm.

I thought the most interesting part was the AD coming forth with a show of support to help close out the recruiting class, and then 247 and such double down on how the coach isn't going to be there next year

I mean, I hate Liucci (arrogant arse), but he'd never do something that stupid

If he had the kind of influence Bobby Burton did he would.

Honestly, they're also going to need a diamond in the rough, generational talent that's capable of turning an entire program around.

That's what Johnny did when everyone thought A&M never stood a chance in the SEC.

We thought we had that in Quinn Ewers... lol, whoops

At this point, most longhorns need to realize that it's likely going to be a "surprisingly good" season to get us over the hump rather than an "expected good" type season, like the ones where we are preseason top 10 and then lose to TCU

Don't get me wrong. I want your program to wallow and suffer in mediocrity for the rest of my life, but I've seen what it is going through before from my school.

I get that you hate Herman, (I do too) but he hasn't exactly had a fair shot down there. His OC and DC hires showed some promise at the end of the year, but it was their first year. You cannot make an accurate assessment of whether they work or not. His biggest mistake was bringing UH guys and thinking Austin media would be okay with that.

I expect Texas to try and bring someone in, blow it all up, and start over. Which is fine with me, as an A&M fan.

Herman needs as much time as McWilliams and Mackovic got combined.

I get it.

The problem with some Texas fans is that they think he's as bad as Charlie, which is completely ludicrous. Charlie inherited an 8-5 team and went 16-21 in 3 years. Herman inherited three consecutive 7-loss teams and has gone 31-18. So people need to realize what he's worked with.

At the same time, it's the WAY Herman has lost so many games. Turtling up in the 4th quarter. Playing down to the opponents level yet playing all-world when it's a top 10 team. Constantly losing to OU (they've beaten him once in each of the 4 seasons). He has a very noticeable ceiling, which is the same reason the plug was pulled on Sumlin, McElwain, Malzahn, etc.

His arrogant demeanor has also not made him many allies, but I don't really give a shite about that. People hate Texas, so they're going to hate the coach, whoever he might be.

I'm not with most Texas fans thinking that if Herman comes back, the sky will fall. There's a 90% chance we'll only be just as good as we were this year, or perhaps even worse, but as of now it's the only real, viable option.

But do I think Texas could do better than Tom Herman? Absolutely, which is why I support a change.

That shouldn't be a surprise at all. He did this at Houston too (beat OU then lose to SMU. Beat Florida State after losing to UConn)

This is my main criticism of Fisher. Sometimes I think he goes into a shell with the running game too fast, but then again he was working with Mond

Fair, but to also be fair to Herman, when he lost to UConn his QB went down and that was the only blemish on his season.

In Tom's best season at Texas, he went 10-4, and all but 3 games were decided by one possession. For better (like beating OU or Georgia) and for worse (like beating a shitty KU team or Tulsa team by one score).

Every game you know you're getting a heart attack with Herman. Which should not be that hard at Texas. But it's probably why culture is such an issue more than anything else. The only talent discrepancy between Texas and another Big 12 school should almost always be in Texas's favor, and has been.
