Until they stay far away from our next search these same issues will always remain. It's like having a dozen Jerry Jones' running the program. Each thinks they know how to fix it.

where does this come from? to me this reads like fan fiction that tries to explain why Texas doesn’t win more. it may well be true, but does this come from anyone who’d know, or is there any evidence of this meddlesome booster theory

I did a book with Gene Wojciechowski, and we had a nugget in the book that said that Texas boosters had tried to hire Nick Saban, which I think most people knew, but we had a source that said they had offered him more than $100 million and Texas fans acted like they didn’t want Nick Saban,” Finebaum said. “The bottom line is they did want Saban and Saban was offered the job, and he considered it. He said to me and to anybody who would confront him with this, that the reason he didn’t go to Texas — he said this privately, he didn’t say this publicly — was he did not want to have to answer to 10 or 15 different boosters who all felt like they owned the franchise. It was a little of a Jerry Jones complex or a T. Boone Pickens complex in college football in the past

thanks, that is interesting and obviously Saban would know. hopefully things have gotten better since then

Right. Like we have a lot of room to talk.
It will take a few years (and some hardware) to live down the complete clusterfrick of the Jimbo years.

I think how this ends and who we end up hiring next, whether it be this year or next, will tell us who's in control.

Aside from the name calling, is the OP honestly expecting Sark to publicly weigh in on the hiring process of a coach in another sport on campus?
As opposed to calling out all the others in your immediate coaching fraternity. His analysts are doing the same shite everyone else is doing. There's just more "smoke" because they have failed to deliver this season...so yeah, I'm sure the sharks are swimming.
I have absolutely no pity on Texas or their fans for their current predicament. The ones that are dumb as frick and couldn't go to school there (or probably anywhere) behave like absolute fair weather trash, remarkably brazen enough to talk shite to actual graduates of A&M...as if going to Walmart and buying a shirt puts us on equal footing.
Their actual alumni are mostly tolerable but still look down their nose at us. They are some of the most insecure, self-righteous assholes I know.
frick em and I hope their entire campus chokes on a giant dildo.

You have to appreciate the irony in these two statements.
Also, we don't all look down at aggie grads. That's ridiculous. I don't know who these horn grads are that you interact with but I interact with aggies and longhorn grads most days and there's is nothing short of mutual respect between all of us. I think most people can separate sports trash talk from what really matters. At least in my circle.

Man, you sound like some of the OLD Ags I knew when I was in campus on the 80’s. Men who had been there in the 50’s and 60’s and really did carry hardcore hatred for the place.
My perspective might be tempered by having gone to grad school there, but the vast majority of people on both sides treat it as the rivalry it is: Two very different schools that are the undisputed big dogs in a big dog state.
Urban vs. rural
Liberal vs conservative
Sophisticated vs Simple
All cliches rooted in some reality, but not all-encompassing.
A few extrapolate all these things into character assessments of all (or most) people on the “other” side.
It’s a college rivalry. If I want life and death bloodsport posturing, I’ll go to the PoliBoard.

It’s true of all bigtime programs. There are plenty of accounts out there about this. It’s over the course of Texas football since the 60s. The Texas HC in particular has to be a congressman. They want Daryl Royal.
A bunch of rich oil guys who love football are going to want access and even a phone line to the coach.
Hell, there was a recent article about Elko at Texas A&M having to try and work with the AD to try and limit that kind of stuff.

This was very true through about the 90s.
A&M is far less rural than it was in terms of students
That said. Still fairly true

You're not wrong. I knew it the minute I posted it...
But yes, having a welfare recipient get in my face after "his team" won by one score, only so he can crawl back to his hole on seasons like this, will never sit right with me.
I've actually been dating a Longhorn grad (class of 2000) for like...6 years. She's a great person, proud of her school, and relishes an opportunity to tear down A&M.
I do work with several though not within my own company. They have mostly been okay, but they seem to disappear when A&M is doing well and they aren't. It's viewed by me as the typical "can dish it out but can't take it" which I have very little respect for.
You're one of the better ones here. I'm mostly trying to pour some gas on the rivalry for next week.

Oh I've met some hard core arrogant pricks from the Unviversity. Mostly law school grads. I think it's why we create so many future politicians

I didn't say ALL law school grads. But I have had to interact with a few that were quite arrogant. Of course one of them is a politician now. Perfect role for him.

I am one of 14 Aggies between my mom and dad's side so I probably never stood a chance to have a full objective view like you do.
I'm also immature. It keeps me youthful.
In all reality I would be content if either of my kids go to one or the other. They are both fine schools that are getting harder to get into.

Texas law grad alligator boot wearing politicians are, as advertised, very arrogant.
The trash talk between students and grads is typically great. And in my younger years, ended up taking shots and singing freebird all together in some dive n 6th.
Tshirt talk is garbage.

It kills me to say this, but keep your kid far away from the University of Texas. My daughter graduated there a few years ago and I'm just now successfully deprogramming the progressive bullshite she was fed for 4 years.
If I had another I'd encourage them to go elsewhere. it's not the same University I attended. It was pretty liberal, but alternate ideologies were welcomed. I've always been conservative and I didn't shy from letting people know. I never had an issue but plenty of spirited debates, the way it should be. Not any more.
and before an angry Texas fan chimes in to argue, I'm sure there are circles in the university where conservative students can thrive. I'm just saying that, in 4 years of spending a lot of time there with her, I never saw it.
