A lot of people are cheering for this, but wait until its your school.
You said something in a postgame press conference I didn't like about the refs... "You're getting fined, suspended, or sanctioned."
You did something in a legal gray area... "We're having a vote to kick you out."
Be careful what you wish for. This could be bad for everybody, not just LSU.

while i agree it appears it really matters what school pushes the limits....OM can play a qb ruled ineligible, Texas put a player that was at mini camp on their roster, bama played a pro basketball player...i am sure there are more examples.

I think Sankey was never a good choice for Commissioner. Furthermore, I don't think he has endeared himself to the SEC members the way he handled the TV contract. He got outclassed by the Big 10 with the way they've spread their games across 3 networks for more money. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Sankey may have done something to upset ESPN.

It's comical that LSU fans can't grasp that Sankey isn't doing this of his own volition.
The last time I checked, Sankey didn't have long blonde hair and look like a dyke.

TBF, CBS got really tight on the money, even when they still had the contract. I actually prefer our TV deal the way it is now. ESPN app gets me everything.

I don't think you're wrong, necessarily.
But I think there is a pretty stout argument that an organization like this - a pseudo pro sports league/commission/etc. with visions of even more grandeur - has to behave like this to keep order, especially in the face of a major program stress testing it for fun.
I think LSU has a recent history of presenting itself as unconcerned and credibility-testing enforcement mechanisms/compliance. I think that and this scenario made LSU a ripe test subject that was just below the level of a Bama or UT (ie, where the expulsion bluff would be harder to manage). In short, I don't think this was really about LSU all that much.
