They are in a hundred times better shape for the future than what Wannstedt and Speilman left Saban in Miami.

Also, one point I forgot to make in my first post above: The year after Saban left, they went 1-15 and on the verge of a winless season if not for a fluke play against Baltimore.

The Saban years were the only time in between Jimmy Johnson and Philbin now where I've seen actual game-planning and good preparation.

But I feel like it would be COOL to live in Miami. Living in Cleveland would just be...well, I don't know. I've never lived in Cleveland. But it's not like I hear glowing things about it.

Then again...

Other than choosing Culpepper over Brees, I thought Saban did a good job in the pros in a shitty situation in Miami.

It wouldn't be about money, nor locale. It would be about success at next level...imo.

But does he NEED or WANT success at the next level? My feeling (and obviously I don't know Nick Saban nor do I know anything about his motives or what he wants out of coaching) has always been that he felt he had done everything he could at LSU, wanted to give the pros a shot, and then just didn't like the NFL.

It's not about whether Saban could succeed at the next level -- I'm sure he could. I just don't know why he would want to.

I always assumed he really didn't like the power structure that occurs with the NFL vs college. I never really thought it was as much about the X's and O's. This is what also makes me think he'll stay in college. I could be wrong though.

so because it's finals time and it's christmas does anyone want to give me cliffs? i saw this thread earlier but figured it was BS like usual but 19 pages always means at least one crazy thing happened, whether it was truth to the rumor or someone had a melt down.

Listening to Terry Saban say on Cowherd that winning gets old at Bama

Belichick is in Sabans ear. He gone headed to the Browns

This year is the pivotal year for Saban. He'll have Cleveland, a job that is near to his heart, and potentially Dallas, a job that if he turns it around, could make him an icon on a whole different level. Not to mention both jobs will come at him with a wide open check book. Gonna be interesting as hell to follow.

That's just the thing. It was the doctor's who vetoed the deal because they thought his shoulder was irreparable. Saban was over-ruled to a degree, if you can actually believe that.

People actually have no idea what he was left with. Trust me, I've been watching this team since I was 10 years old.

Yes but this is theory, not known, most importantly not known by Saban himself. Again, I can't imagine him leaving UA, but if he did, I think this would be why. Just my 2 cents.

Belichick failed his first time around in the NFL ( at Cleveland nonetheless) and he's now one of the, if not THE most succesfull NFL coach. I don't see what i would call a mild failure at Miami deterring Saban from going back to the NFL if he can get the front office the way he wants it.
If you're the Haslams, why not give it a shot, you don't have a precedent for winning football in Cleveland, ever.

Isn't Saban from Ohio?
