Wondering why Saban did not blame Sexton for half of these rumors? That is what Sexton, as his agent, does for a living, putting his client's name out there. And he's earned Saban millions of dollars doing so. Take note that with all the rumors floating around each yr, Sexton never says a word. Does anyone really think that Sexton has not at least talked to various sources around college & pro football about his client?

Simple...Sexton isn't blamed because Sexton doesn't start them. It Texas wants to talk to Saban and approaches Sexton, it's Sexton's job to present those offers to his client. It isn't Sexton's job to hold news conferences for any of his clients to deny interest in this job or that job. Has Sexton talked to college and pro teams about Saban? Of course he has...because those teams have contacted him. Power brokers at places like UT leak stuff to guys like Chip Brown all the time. It isn't Sexton's job to go running around squashing rumors.

Yea, nothing like the boiler room that is the Les Miles presser. NOLA.com and The Advocate are always in there asking the tough questions.

this is true. fact is, no one in the media asks tough questions in press conferences. They're not willing to risk having their press pass pulled just to ask a dickish question. I will never understand why people put so much into even listening to press conferences. Same vague manufactured questions/responses every week.

I agree. Bama could have easily gone that way.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Rich Rodriguez had accepted the job.

Sexton has a lot of clients. I don't recall him ever speaking to the media. But yes, he absolutely talks to ADs for his clients

I was disappointed when he backed out of the job. In hindsight, thank god he did.
