He's been at Bama longer than he's been anywhere else. Technically, he is IN his "long haul" job at present.
He left YOU 8 years ago after 5 year. That doesn't mean he going to leave Bama now after 6 years.
Let. It. Go. He brought you to a place you hadn't been in 40 years. Be thankful and move on.

LSU fans are so frustrated that 5 years of predictions of Saban leaving Alabama haven't panned out that they have been reduced to hoping Saban has a heart attack or an embolism. Wow!!

Yeah he would leave the most dominant program in CFB right now...makes a lot of sense...it really does.

I can easily see Bama winning 3 or 4 of the next 8 national titles.
Saban could retire from CFB with at least 7 national titles. Easy.
This guy is a legend, a god, immortal soul in just a man's body.
So what you are saying is he is the Calipari of college football...

I know he's not a fatass drunk like you and I but stress takes its toll on a body. My friend is 32, a picture of health, but stresses the frick out over everything. The doctor told him he won't see 50 if he doesn't control his stress. Saban won't coach much longer without having a heart attack or embolism.
So now you are privy to conversatons between he and his doctor? What are you a male nurse?
Saban is tanned, rested and ready for another century of owning that arse.

For all of you bama haters, I invite you to t - town and suggest you visit Saban's statue.
I am purely guessing, but I bet Saban is worth at a minimum $20-30 million. Probably much more depending how good an investor etc.
Coach is 61. I am close to that age. Let me tell you, things look much difference than at age 50.
What does this mean? Saban does not need money. Saban see's the end of his days on this earth and contemplates daily what is really meaningfull to him. Saban has already been canonized amongst college faithfull. Saban is a god in Alabama (not really, but close). Saban has and will have total control for many years to come. I see CNS coaching at least 10 more years with ease. Saban if he stays at bama, could win another 3-4 championships and solidify himself as the greatess coach of all time.
Now, why would you risk all that for a job in Cleveland, Dallas or Texas for a few more dollars.
What has made Saban is a passion for football by us Bama fans that no other fan base can match. Excuse me, who of you root for a team that has 14 NC.
That is the secret of Saban's success. Saban is successfull and loves bama because we as a fan base feed his drive and desire to win.
Coach is not going anywhere except into football and especially Alabama football immortality.
To all of you who hate bama

You know it's kind of funny. The fretting and worrying you can tell from some Alabama fans in this thread is EXACTLY how I would feel if I thought there was even a chance Calipari was going to step down.
Actually Calipari and Saban are quite similar. They are both far and away the best in their business, and I'm guessing work their magic 24/7, but I suspect both will retire at the top and go hang out with their grand kids before any of us would want them to.

So the bottom line is that, as the years go by, the bottom line becomes less important than the larger picture?
Interesting.

Saban: "What do you want me to say?"
Reporter: "Answer the question, Will you be the next Alabama coach?"
Saban: "I will not be the next Alabama Coach."
Reporter: "Thanks for clearing that up."
Tic Toc, Tic Toc
Days go by, ESPN reports, "Saban to be Alabama's next Head Coach.
Sorry Bama fans, just not that trustworthy. Always will say what you want to hear while all along good ole Jimmy Sexton working his magic.
As far as me , I love seeing him in the SEC, I get a kick out of his sideline antics . Man I would miss that. Just hope he never pops a blood vessel on National TV.

He said after NC #1 here, it was just the beginning. He's won another, and we're ranked #1 now and looking good. Seems trustworthy to me.

What would you have had him say there? The reporter had backed him into a corner. There were three things he could have said there and two of them would have been bad. He couldn't say yes because of two reasons: 1) Alabama had yet to open up discussions with him and 2) The Dolphins were still in the middle of the season. He says yes there and the season is lost and his players effectively quit on them like they did in LSU's bowl game at the end of the 2004-2005 season.
If he says no comment, that's just as bad as saying yes in most cases. All you do there is add more fuel to the fire and the question doesn't go away, it only magnifies. The fact of the matter is, at that point Alabama was not talking to him so he probably believed that he wasn't going to be the next head coach at Alabama.
Just my biased two cents. The dude has come back and stated in multiple interviews that he shouldn't have been so absolute with the reporter.
