bammer won't get a big name to replace Saban. As somebody has already said, his successor is almost destined to fail.

Saban has had a ton of luck on his side. The next coach could recruit as well or almost as well, coach as well or almost as well, and still end up with zero national championships without all Saban's luck. This would get the next coach fired

Every championship team has some luck. Look at every SEC national champion during this run and find one without luck along the way to their title.

That said, you don't win 3 titles in 5 years based on "luck". The man is the best coach in the country and it isn't really close. He's also be hurt by "luck" that has prevented him from winning more titles.

You sound so objective when you refer to them as "bammer". You're wrong, though. Alabama will be set up for success due to stacked roster. Someone will look at Bama at the point of Saban's retirement they same way LSU was viewed in 2005 - an amazing opportunity.

I believe that Alabama will go into a Perkins/Curry cycle after Saban leaves. It will be impossible to keep the success at current level.

The next HC will have Patriot ties and offensive minded coach.

Show me another college football dynasty with only 1 undefeated season and 3 conference championships. Sorry but Bama is not special the rules of being a dynasty don't change just for you.

What are these rules of being a dynasty of which you speak? Only 3 teams in history have won 3 National Championships in 4 years; all 3 have been widely perceived as a dynasty (by the media/analysts, not just fans).

Notre Dame ('46, '47, '49) went undefeated but had one tie in '46 and they never played in a bowl game (their choice). They were matched up once against the #1 team (they were #2) in the middle of the '46 season and tied Army, 0-0. While the most respected poll, the AP, voted ND #1, several other selectors (the UPI wasn't in existence yet) chose Army as #1.

Nebraska ('94, '95, and '97) went undefeated in all three seasons. These were the days of the Bowl Coalition Alliance (pre-cursor to the BCS) and the PAC-10/BIG-10 did not participate. The '97 championship was shared as Michigan won the AP poll and Nebraska the Coaches poll. Only in '95 did the top 2 teams in the nation square off in a national championship game as the Huskers throttled #2 UF that year in the Fiesta Bowl (the '95 Nebraska team may have been the best of all time).

Alabama ('09, '11, '12) only went undefeated once but they were the only team of the three to have championship game match-ups between the top 2 teams in the nation all 3 years.

Not saying Bama was better than those 2 schools during their respective stretches...but 3 championships in 4 years is awfully rare and, while it's not the only measurement for a dynasty, should easily qualify as one.

The people in administration who led to this last time are no longer around (i.e. involved and/or alive).

Agreed, especially considering this level of success has rarely (if ever) been matched over this extended period of time. That doesn't mean, however, that Bama will not continue to be a perennial top 10 team.

People blame Curry for a lot of things but he won at Bama. He may not have been great but he also is not judged fairly.

Aren't you leaving out some more stats? 3 out of 4 NCs, being ranked #1 in every season since 2008, being in position to play for a NC in November every year since 2008.

Dude. He played "One Moment in Time" by Whitney Houston for the entire team in the locker room before the 1989 Iron Bowl game. He should have been fired for that decision alone.

You really had a pulse of that team like he did?

I know Tank absolutely backed him. I trust Tank over a bunch of writers and posters.

Guys liked him, but from a guy that was on that team - he didn't get them from a motivational standpoint. There is a difference in liking a guy and thinking he was the best fit for the job. The team responded well to Stallings.

I'm not crapping on Curry. He just wasnt a good long-term fit.

Players on the team did not respect him. That, coming from a two year starter.

Curry was a whiner.
He should have never been hired.
Bobby Bowden should have been the coach.

This is true.

I would add that a little luck will not help you if you are not in the game.
Whether it is Mount Cody blocking a FG, or running pick plays in 2 minute drill, or hitting a Hail Mary, or setting up and executing a FG return- none of these things matter if you are not playing good enough for LUCK to matter.
