Well, it won't be LSLOSE... that's crashing the party this year, will it?

I still think that an elite defense, defensive line and secondary will always have an upper hand. That’s contingent on having an offense that can average 35 a game.. do you see that a lot? No, shut down corners are so hard to come by apparently...

If there is an underrated element to Saban - it’s this right here. He dominated CFB with defense for years. But he was humble enough and had the vision to realize that the landscape was changing and his offense had to change - and this revelation was made before he ever even struggled.

That’s impressive to me. How many coaches, athletes, etc. who have been highly successful do a complete 180 on their philosophy that has gotten them so much success, before it stops working? Hardly any. But Saban did and as a result, the transition between these little “eras” of CFB has been seamless for Alabama.

He’s the GOAT CFB coach and it’s not really close.

The most interesting thing I learned in that article is that Devonta Smith is one of the best corners on our team. I hope we start giving him a few snaps.

Good defenses don't beat bad officiating.

Good offense and refs. Bama will get spanked by Clemson or OSU again when they have to deal with a more neutral officiating crew

Being serious, how can Georgia fans keep blaming officiating?? Final score was 41-24.

Only controversial call was PI on the goaline. ? I’ll listen.

You make an excellent point. Even Coach Bryant suffered through a couple of tough seasons ('69 and'70) when he tried to move to a pass oriented offense.

The shift he made that started when he brought in Lane has been one of the most impressive things he’s done in his career. He basically changed his goals in building a team on the fly without a substantial drop off in order to adapt to a changing game. And after making those changes has his team positioned as one of the best in the country. And he did it in his late 60s. A lot of coaches, including a lot who are a lot younger than him, have not been able to pull this off.

What I was trying to say above said better than I said it.

and it's always been pass interference if the db pushes the receiver away from the play with a catchable ball in the air. The db did that and grabbed the receiver as well.

That aside, Alabama won by 3 scores and ran clock in the 4th quarter. UGA just got beat.

I remember when rival fans and a lot of bammers as well proclaimed that Kiffin would be the downfall of Alabama.

They didn’t score a point in the second half and they think it was officiating lol

I mostly agree with him.

But I’d be curious to see the 2011 Alabama defense against the 2020 Alabama offense. Something tells me 2020 wouldn’t score 41 points on them.

It’s pretty impressive that as a defensive minded coach, he’s been able to understand the changes to rules and schemes and adjust his offensive philosophy to remain competitive with the best in the country.
He is the GOAT college coach and his ability to anticipate, adapt, and execute is one of the primary reasons for his GOAT-ness.
