Yeah, coaches seem to have it in their blood and never want to give it up. But dang, these guys have millions and millions and should live a nice, easy rich person life at their age.
Internet says Saban is worth about $70M. Yeah, go live it up, dude. Spend all your time with family and live. College football coaching is a 24/7 stressful arse job.
Doubtful many stay in the profession anywhere near as long as Saban and prior era of coaches stayed. I would bet 15 years total as a HC is an outlier in just a few years. If you listen to them when interviewed they all comment on how much NIL and the portal has impacted their time away from work. Making piles of money is one thing but at some point most people will realize they are worn out. Coaching at the level that Saban has done will almost certainly never be seen again. I hope Kirby is the outlier and does it for 20 more years but if he doesn't who could blame him?

That income is gonna be eaten into though. I'm not here to argue on how much he's worth or to make Saban seem less rich or anything.
But $70M is a shite ton of money. You also have to realize he's probably got some major expenses and all that income is highly taxed which means he's not gonne get anywhere near that $100M in total.
It takes a lot of money to accrue $70M.

A bucket of white bait and a man could catch all the slot snook he could eat while in season. 2.2 Miles from the inlet though...too far for more, Ida passed

If he clips coupons and eats day old bread from the bakery outlet he oughta be OK.
Seriously though, imagine the expense of upkeep on a pile of bricks that size. Most people live at what ever level their income affords them...$70 million is a ton o money unless you have $70 billion and then it would seem like living in poverty...

CFB will be a little less fun once Saban is gone.
16 seasons and 17 head to head games vs Bama and LSU has won 5 times against Saban. 2007, 2009, 2011, 2019, 2022. I'm tired of that shite and can't wait for it to end.

How is this any different than his buying a home on Lake Burton?

Lake Burton is outside the Nantahala Forest which is in North Carolina. I think this one is in Florida.

That kind of money is chump change around here (unfortunately).

You can tell the offseason is still here. We have heard Saban is retiring or leaving for 15 yrs. One day somebody will get it right, today is not the day though.
I took it that he was getting ready for retirement, not that he was retiring or it was imminent. I mean I was eyeing retirement for about 20 years before I retired. And if he is buying a $17 million mansion it would seem that it could come sooner than later. Good for him. He deserves it.
