Really? That was the same time that I was President of the NCAA.

The fact that some of you think that AU picked up the phone one morning, faxed a surprise to the NCAA, and they reinstated Newton less than a day later shows just how dumb some of you actually are
That may all be true and we may really be dumb, but it was so confusing as to how and why it happened. Why did Auburn send that request/info to the NCAA after the Iron bowl? If they thought that he might be ineligible then, didn't they think that he might have been for the Iron Bowl? Either they thought he might be ineligible or they didn't.
How you have the answers ahead of time from the NCAA, and you just summit something just to say you did? Isn't that a waste of time for everyone?
The way it was handled was a bigger slap in the face to every other team that has had to wait for permission to play a player than if nothing was done at all.

Regardless of whether or not Cam actually did something that caused him to be ineligible, THIS is the point that many Auburn fans seem unable or unwilling to grasp. That point being that MANY schools have been without the services of key players because of the mere possibility they may have done something worthy of an NCAA (2 or 3 game) suspension. Most teams in that situation are having to hold players that may not be ineligible out of games as precaution until the NCAA gets off its a## and gets around to making a ruling on the matter. They seem to have made a special exception for Auburn in the Cam situation (i.e. allowing Auburn to hold him out on a weekday for several hours when the issue was publically know before the last 2 games against UGA and Alabama).

I hate the fact that Bama is going to sit TR until the NCAA declares him eligible after the TTMW fiasco. Sucks for them.

Can you give an example of one, that held/suspended a player on specualtion without any substance behind it

Jerrel Harris
Did they suspend him just based upon a rumor? or did they have something to back it up

According to sources in and around the Alabama football team and athletic department, one reason why Jones and Ingram were spared personal penalties was because they were honest when University of Alabama officials questioned them as part of an internal investigation.
Those sources say Harris wasn't forthcoming when he first was confronted about allegations that he was involved with Anderson. After completing its investigation, the university concluded allegations that included a laptop were true. During subsequent interviews, when questioned specifically about the computer, Harris provided truthful answers.
So Alabama recommended a six-game suspension. Nearly two weeks ago, the NCAA let Alabama know that it accepted the recommendation.
The sources left out the other reasons Jones and Ingram were spared harsher punishments.

Sounds like you should be pissed at your coaches instead of Auburn.
