I'm not saying he hasn't, I'm just wondering how on Earth you came to this conclusion. He earned America's respect because he's good at football? That makes no sense to me.
Respect as a guy that came to America from another country and has worked his way onto a lot of NFL mock drafts. Some are predicting he may be drafted late 1st, or maybe 2nd or 3rd.

Respect as to being named to a lot of college football awards lists; (Outland, Bednarik, Bronko Nagurski, Lombardi). Pretty good for a guy that started playing football when he was 15.

I still stick with this. When he does something outstanding in the community, etc, I'll admit that's he gained respect. Nobody, IMO, gains the nations respect by just being good at football.

As an aside, my uncle used to be a Chem professor at Michigan St when he was up there. When he came to LSU, he said the faculty didn't mind seeing him go, as he was kind of an elitist snob and not involved in the university at all. Said he would ditch us too, when he got the right offer. I took it as sour grapes at the time, but I do remember something else- I worked with a doctor who was Saban's neighbor in the CC in BR. That doc was an avid LSU fan, but he didn't have much nice to say about lil Nick either... and that was well before he left. Basically an arrogant dick who would look at you and walk away, if you were both out in the yard and you waved at him. My own best guess is sentimentality and loyalty will have nothing to do with Saban's staying or leaving. If he gets the right terms on a deal he wants, he'll kiss your asses goodby before you know it.

Haha sounds like the people that you reference in this article are butthurt bitches like yourself.

I can't believe this thread is 20+ pages. Coach Saban is about to turn 61, he's not having a mid life crisis, he's not going anywhere except to that house on lake to rant at the bass for not swimming in an orderly fashion.

The only processed food Saban eats are Little Debbies.

I don't know what he is going to do in retirement. I don't see him in media, he's obsessed with football so I don't know what hobbies he might have. He may try to coach till 70, who knows.

I'm still trying to figure out why a military Veteran is bragging about his revolutionary ancestors and trying to tell people what to have in their avatars. Calling someone a piece of shite after tagging someone a liberal in a football thread about Nick Saban going to Cleveland is also curious.

People in my family have the same kind of intensity as Saban. He's going to have to find something else to do if he quits football. People like that don't retire well.

Oh, I didn't read the 20 pages (I got in on the ground floor and returned for a terrace view). Cliff notes? (or is it worth it?)

i just read the last page, and maybe somewhere in the middle.

Just remember back to the other Saban to ________ threads and you will be caught up. Except the angry avatar comments and political martyrdom.

First of all, my grandfather was in ww2, dad was in nam, so you can kiss my star spangled arse. If your ancestors didn't IMMIGRATE from another country, then you'd be watching futbol in Europe chief. There's nothing wrong with a legal immigrant that's in our country getting a college education.

Maybe Chicken took away his Brad Wing avatar.

I picture this guy holed up in a bunker wearing camo with his guns loaded so he can hunt down all the liberals.
