Objectively from a helicopter view, this entire situation has worked out perfectly for aTm. They get the money, prestige, recruiting, and stability of the SEC while still getting to play virtually all of their old conference rivals like Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou. Nebraska is the only big name from the Big 12 that the SEC didn’t end up with and they are nowhere near the program they once were.

Wait, wut?

You are aware that A&M played LSU more times before joining the SEC than it has ever played Oklahoma and Missouri combined to this day right?

Also, A&M has played LSU more times than LSU has played the following SEC teams: Tennesee, Auburn, and Georgia among others

Big 10 wants in the Lone Star State. UT ain't going. TCU, BU, SMU, TTU, Rice and so on aren't big enough names. That leaves A&M.

They could take one of Houston or Tech and one of SMU or TCU, and it would be a win for them. It would dilute A&M and tu’s recruiting currently being the only programs in the Power 2 and over time the interest in the programs would grow.

My math says that Texas has outrecruited a&m since Sarkisian arrived and it’s only July of a cycle where he’ll probably do it again

Remember when you said you were leaving the board only to post over 600 times since because Texas took the single greatest asset a&m had in their athletic department’s history? Me too

Nothing on our boards about this. Just crap being posted in the rant.

I don’t know what was going on behind the scenes with the Texas addition. There may be a lot of lost trust between A&M and the SEC brass. I think if we left it would have less to do with Texas specifically and more to do with the relationship with the SEC offices.

That said, I agree the optics would be that we are fleeing Texas and optics are all that matters. We have poor leadership though so we are probably too obtuse to understand that nuance though.
Seriously?
Conference realignment has been a thing for a long time now and SEC leadership knew it was coming. When you can grab two helmet schools that still make geographical sense to the SEC...why would you allow another conference to grab them instead?
The PAC no longer exists, the B1G and ACC (dying as we speak) are both geographical and uncompelling matchup nightmares. Then you look at the SEC where it still makes geographical sense, and outside of an occasional Vandy vs Moo State matchup, just about every game is going to put butts in stands and eyeballs on tv's.

The funny thing to me is IF we are leaving because we want away from Texas we likely wouldn’t even achieve that because I could easily see Texas joining later on. Any decision we make needs to be about way more than just our friends in Austin. We may not trust the SEC brass as much as we did but the B1G has screwed up some things as well (see the Covid year flip flopping and scheduling).
lol, what? As if we couldn't have joined the B1G whenever we wanted to, but we didn't want to. Maybe a slightly better cultural fit vs the SEC, but not the right move for us. If it weren't for the PAC offering and then rescinding when word of LHN came down the pipe then US, you (aggy) OU, OSU and maybe two other teams such as Tortilla Tech and K-state likely go west and the PAC still exists today as a strong conference.

Now come on, you know that’s a lie. Yes the Big 10 would have wanted you and yes you would have liked to join the big 10, but espn and LHN created the obstacle your school couldn’t get past without one of you ponying up probably close to 100 mm and we all know that is why the espn boys orchestrated your move to the SEC

It’s a business and as much as your fan base wanted Big10, espn controlled the $$$

Thank you. I know A&M got screwed over by Sankey after being promised Texas would not be invited.

Honestly, the national exposure for A&M would be far greater than remaining in SEC. Playing Oregon, SC, UCLA, ND, etc would generate national interest.

Of course Texas did not know three years ago that the Pac12 would implode. I suspect if Texas could undo the SEC arrangement, they would bolt in a Minnesota minute to the Big 10. Fits them better than SEC. So I’m laughing at UTa. They must be agonizing over missing out on the AAU loving Big 10.

Anyway, Gig’em! Aggies will always be IMHO be the true Texas SEC team

I also think UF would go to the Big Ten first and before A&M.

And just like that you've lost all credibility

Texas A&M isn’t going to sacrifice their baseball program by joining the B1G.

There was recently a post on an A&M pay site stating that not a single Board of Regent member has been approached about this, and not a single BOR member is interested in the subject.

Makes you wonder who keeps pushing this rumor, and what the motivation is…Since it’s clearly not coming from the A&M message boards or the Board of Regents.

Well, posts on message boards are suspect at best. I hope you’re correct. Losing Texas A&M would hurt the SEC.

The most obvious answer is the likely answer.

Is anyone really, truly wondering ?
