Man you are really dumb. You just said good QBs step up in the pocket when pressured from the inside... If there is pressure on the inside.. where exactly do you step up to? You sound like the guy at gameday parties that tries to sound smart and just sounds like a complete fool. You try and repeat key words you’ve heard from analysts and completely fail haha

So that's an excuse for Lawrence but not Nix? Have you even heard of Gus Malzahn?

Touché. I think Malzahn’s passing concepts are not great... and that will hamper Nix’s development. I would love to see Auburn make a run at the Natty this year. I just think a lot of Auburn fans are forgetting how bad the offense looked last night outside of a handful of plays.

Auburn had 6 drives of 55 plus yards...it would be statistically accurate to say while Auburn looked ok on offense they didn't finish. Stats help to remove the bias nature of our opinions.

Bo Nix has the same bad habit Kelly Bryant does. When they feel any sort of pressure they roll out of the pocket. Good teams take advantage of that.

Guys like Tua, Watson and Lawrence are very good at feeling pressure in the pocket and not panicking. Watch the tape and how many times Nix felt the slightest bit of pressure and abandoned the pocket last night.

Thankfully he stepped up on the last play. People act like he won't get better, plus our OL will need him to have a good sense of pressure and slip it.

Absolutely. Auburn fans are acting like it’s crazy to say Nix didn’t play amazing last night.

He has promise, and I hope he continues to improve. With the D that Auburn is fielding this year they can make some noise.

Usually the pressure doesn’t come from both DTs, so you move within the pocket. Find your check down if necessary. There are times to roll out of the pocket... but you can’t do it every time you feel pressure.

You clearly didn't watch the game and know nothing of Gus Malzahn. Just sit this one out.

No, actually nobody is saying that...Auburn fans can tell people are trying to down play the positives. It's not like everyone didn't expect some negatives from a Frosh QB. Pretending like he doesn't show flashes of some really good things is stupid. Acting like he only made a play or two last night is ignorant. Auburn fans are simply calling out those people.

I have watched the game and a lot of Auburn football. Most passing plays in college and the NFL have a checkdown.

Why in the actual frick would you do that?

Do those throws not count in your fantasy world?

Auburn fans have complained for years that the Malzahn passing scheme lacks check downs and often contains just one or two receiver options. As for stepping up in the pocket, most of Nix's scrambles were pressure situations where there was no pocket to step up into. You either didn't watch the game or are just generally clueless. I think the previous poster nailed it when he accused you of regurgitating things you've heard analyst say.

As for Nix, he played well given the circumstances he was in. His stats won't be overly impressive this season though because Gus' offense isn't going to put him in a position to have great modern day QB stats.

“Not great”?

How do you define “abysmal”? Or “putrid”? Or “Anemic”? Or “non-existent”?

Dude saying QBs need to step up in the pocket when pressure is up the middle.

I am not going to waste my time putting together a play by play breakdown, but there were several times where he felt pressure and ran out of the pocket when he should have stayed in the pocket. If you can’t see that, you didn’t watch the game.
