After Coach Stallings, yall should have hired Bobby Ross

Nah, we needed to be humbled especially our boosters. Without the Fran/Shula regimes, our boosters would've never sent Mal Moore to Miami, "hat in hand" to Saban. Would've been too proud nor would they have agreed to give up full control of the football program unless it was clear the old ways weren't working anymore.

I was lucky enough to see him roaming the sidelines in his final season when FAU came to Jordan Hare in 2011. That was actually the only reason I went to that game, bc he had already announced it was his final season and I respected him so much

RIP coach

A true Wildcat legend. Just a huge part of the Commonwealth football history. He will be missed.

He is of Bama lore in more than just recruiting Namath. Bryant picked Perkins to succeed him instead of Schnellenberger. Howard WANTED to come to Bama. Instead of Miami in the 80’s it would have been more Bama.

Bear Bryant didn't interfere in the coaching search. It was later revealed by his son, that Bryant was hoping Stallings would be his replacement.

Most famously, he helped recruit quarterback Joe Namath from Beaver Falls, Pa., to Alabama. It was Schnellenberger who flew to Pennsylvania to escort the much sought-after Namath to Tuscaloosa, writing bad checks to cover travel expenses after he was forced to stay several days longer than he’d originally planned.

Maryland was his first choice but he didn't have the grades/scores to get in.Bama happily took em
