Reminder on the SEC's intraconference transfer rules: No SEC-to-SEC transfers in the spring portal, even for grad transfers.
Nico can't go to another SEC school and gain immediate eligibility, and Tennessee can't go get their next starter from an SEC foe.
Reminder: The second window will open April 16 and run through April 25.

He could if he was willing to sit for 2025.
Go get him Sooners! He seems like he would fit like a glove in Norman

It's too bad he can't. Might help the opposing teams get a win. They won the harder games in spite of him mostly last season.

Are all tx fans this stupid?
You think any SEC team pays him $4m so he can sit all year and destroy their ability to pay anyone else?
Wow

Funny thing is how much tx paid Arch:
Grok
@grok

5. LaNorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina: $3.7M
6. Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU: $3.6M
7. Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson: $3.3M
8. Drew Allar, QB, Penn State: $3.2M

You are not wrong. But I doubt any SEC school wants to take on that burden and bad press, to then test it. Because to test it Nico would want guaranteed money regardless of the outcome and no school would spend that money on a gamble.

And yet Arch has been 1,000% class through the whole fricking process.... Recruitment check, redshirting check, being the backup when he was clearly the superior QB check. Everything he does he behaves like a fricking boss.
Also his NIL valuation is 6.5 million but less than half of that comes from the Texas One Fund the remainder comes from you know advertisers and companies who would like to use his name, image, and likeness because he carries himself like a badass.
Hope this helps I know y'all are too busy smoking meth and having your way with your sisterwives.

Texas will pay stupid money for anything to end up with crappy results.

Last time I checked we finished higher ranked than any other SEC team and that was with our oft injured QB throwing the game away after our coach couldn't call a play to save his life.
Also *checks notes* I see Texas is at the top of the conference in baseball and yeah we sucked absolute arse at basketball we *checks notes again* have the highest rated athletics department in the entire SEC across the whole landscape.
Yes we have historically underachieved because our administration was insistent on stepping on our dicks every step of the way. The Texas One Fund was setup better than any other school's NIL program and so cling to that hope all you want but going forwards it will look more and more desperate.

So one year at a Big 10 or Big 12 school then back to SEC?

This is true.. until this rule is challenged in court., and at some point, it will get challenged
College Football could be fixed so easily.
If you transfer, you have to sit a year.
The only solution is to figure out a way to bring that rule back.
Possible Solution
The SEC and B1G breakaway, make new rules, and create a private club. If a player wants to play for one of the teams, he has to sign a contract. To make this happen, it may have to occur ourside of the schools.
Just spitballing.. but the 1 year penalty is the only change that is causing all this..

Yes, the problem isn’t NIL its transfer portal. If you fix the portal you fix the problem that just happened. Many are blaming NIL when its 100% portal that allowed this to happen.
The late year portal timeline is based on enrolling at schools, when it needs to be opened/moved to a week after the natty is played. These kids are no longer students first so the dates need to change.
Open it for 1 month after natty. Then it closes for a year. This also would bring back most canx spring games, as one reason schools stopped is not wanting players exposed and then poached in the mid-late April portal window.
Fixing the portal dates would fix many problems

For football only.
One window.
December 15 - January 15
Make this time a high school recruiting dead period and only for transfers..
Yes, it’s harder for the playoff teams, but that means the talent gets spread around to more teams, which is a good thing.

No. I would argue those playoff teams have more talent sitting and you can’t lock them out from transferring just because of being in late playoffs. You want their benches to have the same chance to transfer thus why window can’t start until after last game is played.
Another good beni of starting the window a week after natty - it gives all teams equal chances to get portals. But as important it gives schools who finished in mid Dec or later a chance to work with current roster to keep. Some of these young kids make rash quick decisions. If they have to wait a month it might give them time to rethink transferring and make a better decision. So many just jump in portal hastily.

well I’d prefer one summer window but there are other complications there..
We need to find a loophole to make players have to sit out a year.. that one rule is the only thing that prevented it before..
sure, some players transferred, like Kyler, but they have to really think hard about it first

what if the NCAA made a rule that all transfers can play right away, but they are not eligible for postseason play until 1 year after the transfer..
