The same way I "hated" Arkansas when we finished the season with them with the Battle of the Boot. What was a (for the most part) a certain win became much more difficult as the "rivalry" grew with time. A perfect example was 2007. I honestly did not care about Texas A&M until 74-72. Over time I grew to "hate" A&M only because they were a threat to ending our season on a high note.

Hopefully that makes sense. I think you understand me well enough to know I don't post "hateful" things about Texas A&M. However, I absolutely do not want to lose to them either.

Ha! After 2 decades of being mediocre in the Big12, only a dumbass would assume we were on the same level of LSU.

You can love your school and hate to lose without hating the school. Many of my friends are LSU alum and I love the hell out of them!

I had zero hate towards LSU until I found this board. The 24x7 vitriol towards Aggie has turned me into a flame thrower.

To me, this place shows the soft underbelly of human depravity when there are no repercussions to our words.

I find myself coming here less and less.

Makes you wonder what rivalries we’ll have to tell people about 50 years from now that vanished.

Bedlam (OU-OSU) comes to mind immediately. Really any rivalry that isn’t in-conference when all this expansion stuff is over is on the chopping block.

Good stuff. From late 50’s through the 70’s the LSU - Ole Miss was close to the rivalry with Tulane. As the crowd left after every home game for years until the Ole Miss game, the stadium echoed with “Go to hell Ole Miss,” and not just from the students.

I gather the feeling was similar in Oxford. In the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum is a copy of an anonymous letter calling for protests against James Meredith. The letter was dated in early October and ended with “Go to hell LSU.”

I have been stationed at Fort Sam Houston three times. My best friend from the Army (fellow retired colonel) is an A&M grad (93).

I hate their football program only because it is a threat to the success of my football program. Nothing more, nothing less.

Roger that, makes sense…. I’m class of 94 myself. So, we sound about the same age.
