This is what I was thinking of. One version of the story had him looking like the good guy. The swimming pool thing is nothing, IMO.

It really wasn't meant as a way to frick with anyone. More of a way of clarifying why I thought it was Liner.

Is taking that short-term loss worth a long-term gain with every high school coach in America who sees Auburn showing it cares more about the roots of the game than a Redwood sprouting up out of the Quad Cities?

They have Redwood trees in Iowa/Illinois?

I iz confused.

In my eyes...it was a golden troll and that is all that matters.

He got arrested once for cussing a cop that was arresting or ticketing his mom and a second time for jumping a fence to swim in a public pool that was closed. Neither were really bad, but just some red flags. I think he got into with his HS coaches and got suspended from his team for a while as well

..and I think the Bama commit was a kid that was a 5* from Mobile.....I seem to remember the article the OP is talking about....the kid was accused of rape,,,,and by rape I mean sex with an underage girl.....the first allegation came out and I don't think Bama ever publically commented on it.....the second arrest came for the same thing and Bama dropped him like a hot potato...

but yeah,,,I think Liner's rep. was at a low point at the time the article was written and the 2nd allegation about the other kid hadn't come out.....Liner's stuff was pretty minor....so yeah, probably unfair to AU since Bama ended up signing Liner

I think the guy was just trying to be provocative to get page views. the article was ridiculous on its face and I'm sure he knew it, but he also knew AU and Bama fans would argue about it and take opposing positions.

ETA: Also, solid discussion post free from trolling.

The first allegation could have been taken as a disgruntled dad not happy with his daughters choices (just saying perspective, I don't know the whole story). The second was full blown rape.

Even as a fan of a different school, I thought Bama handled that situation fine.
