Regarding Hero Kanu, DL; he is an international student from Germany that transferred to play HS in California, and just transferred from Ohio State to Texas.

Hero’s here because he wants to play for Texas.

"Texas' prestige and resources made it the only program that probably could've stopped him from choosing Georgia. I heard someone make the comment that Texas is the Yankees - maybe the Dodgers, more applicably right now - and that's just the way it is.
Plain and simple, it's gonna be some tense moments if it's you vs. Texas in the final stages of a recruitment."

Yesterday morning Bobby reported that Kanu was "on his way to Georgia" for a visit. CTJ said that Georgia mods expected him to spend multiple nights there. Then he commits to us this morning. Did he literally commit to us while on a tour of Georgia's facilities? "Hold up Coach Smart, gotta send a text real fast. OK, you were saying?"
Pretty sure as an international student his legal cap is $10,000. There's a discussion about it on the Hero celebration thread, but it sounds like NIL wasn't the primary driving factor.
It's not a college athletics rule. It's a federal rule regarding student visas.
It's come up before with high profile international students competing in college athletics. I have no idea how easy it is to get around. It feels naive to think no player in the US on a student visa has ever received improper benefits. But the consequences are different since it's not an NCAA rule or enforcement you're violating.
Yeah, the consequences are pretty severe and can affect their ability to move to a professional athlete visa or permanent residency in the future. Especially right now. You don't want to frick around with violating the terms of your student visa and taking improper benefits / more than $10k for the next 4 years.
Texas Compliance has to be on top of this shite with any international athlete, of which we have quite a few in tennis, T&F, S&D and women's soccer.

Hero’s here because he wants to play for Texas.

Sark went 5-7 in his first year at UTrans and 8-5 the next
Pay-for-play became effective on July 1, 2023 in the State of Texas and miraculously saved the UTrans football program.
Still, UTrans will soon be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their last and only championship game they've won in football

Nice spelling, clearly Texas State taught you well.
Your coach is a drunken, cuck who never had a 10-win season until uncapped pay-for-play saved his sorry arse

That was a hell of a play call on 2nd and Goal from the 1-yard line though!

Bragging about being a front runner of causing the downfall of college football is weird

That they actually played a game for? Correct.
Watch out though, they love to brag about the AP votes they got back in the 60s and 70's

So yeah, thanks to the refs, Texas has won only 1 national championship game in the entire history of their program

it's been 20 years... stop complaining about the refs. Also, Texas would've scored that drive

So the #1 vs #2 games that I showed shouldn't be considered the national championship game?

Being from Germany, I would have to say he's easily impressed. Just wait till he realizes he doesn't have to order Wienerschnitzel for dinner every night. It's a brave new world.
