One of the most impressive game prep coaches meetings I have ever been a part of was at the 2022 Alamo Bowl..With Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb. Home Run hire for Alabama
— Jordan Rodgers

Kalen DeBoer is a home run hire for Alabama. Winners win ... and that's exactly what DeBoer has done throughout his career. 104-12 overall in stops at Sioux Falls, Fresno State and Washington. It doesn't matter that he is in "outsider" when it comes to the SEC. He will kill it.
-Barrett Sallee

Talking with someone who knows Kalen DeBoer well, he's what you want in a modern-day coach in that he understands the challenges of maximizing the talent of today's players and has the ability to get those players to buy in. Important qualities because coaching has changed.
-Chris Low

Guy is a damn ball coach. Alabama fans should be thrilled. Listen to how his players describe him. He will build & coach as a TEAM. I'm a fan. Congrats Coach!

In the age of NIL, he doesn't have to bring in top 3 classes every year.

Just coach the shite out of the dudes you have and fill holes with transfers.

Yes, coaching is now probably more important than anything right now.

I assume Saban can help him with that since he’s still going to be apart of the program. He can sure coach. That wasn’t even his team (almost everyone but Penix was a coach Pete recruit) and he did very well. I’d like to see him with his own team.

Internet user Errerrerrwere knows more than guys who started games in the SEC.

Ignore Jordan Rodgers.

It's kind of like when these types of guys praised LSU's hire of Brian Kelly and posters like SideTaint swore that LSU was in for a "rude fricking awakening."

My, my, how the turntables.

Kinda hard to say honestly. He really hasn't been anywhere long enough to have a reputation. He wins and then gets a new job.

We’ll find out about recruiting. It is a legit concern to me.
Positives are that he will have access to mentorship from Nick Saban, so that’s not a bad way to begin your career in navigating the recruiting landscape in the SEC.
I think best case scenario he turns into an Urban Meyer type coach and can get to a couple championship games. Worse case scenario he really is a Bryan Harsin at Auburn or Brian Kelly at Notre Dame level. LMAO (though I respect Kelly and do think he’s a decent coach)

SEC time. Not even in the same stratosphere. Good hire though. He was the best available.

You have to soak it into existence. Let’s be honest, he has a great record but it doesn’t compare…. It’s apples to oranges. If Penix isn’t on that team with those awesome WRs and the team wasn’t young. Several players on the team started in 2018, which is crazy to even think about.

Pretty sure that Bama logo still holds weight.
Ppl need to stop acting like because he didnt reel in top 5 classes at Wash that he cant pull kids to friggan Bama.
Plus its the NIL era, so if you got bags youll get players. Kids want money, they dont gaf how cool you are.

Guy had a 3 star QB in the Heisman race, you think he cant sell that?

But then, if it’s such a clear thing, why all the effort to PR legitimize it?

If Daniels and those WRs weren’t at lsu this year would kelly be on the hot seat without a defense?

Dude took over a 4 win team and in 2 seasons had them in the NCG.

Beat Oregon 3 times, Texas twice and beat USC.
Had his QB as a Heisman Finalist.
One of the top offenses in CFB the past 2 years.

Man can coach, Hell, Ill trade right fkn now.

I think he is a dumbass for leaving Washington and coming to Bama with the shadow of Saban and the expectations-let alone having to compete in the SEC...He had a good thing going at Washington with much less pressure.

We could say the exact same thing about Kelly at ND
