I did like this comment though, it's baseball you're not gonna be up there every year.

No, but our talent level is rising every year so we should be a lot more consistent in these next few years than in the past.

DVH's best year at Arkansas was 46 total wins. Cohen is currently at 50 wins at MSU against the #4 overall SOS.

One more win and this is no real discussion.

Right, I'm just saying coming in here to convince us that Van Horn is better is pretty dumb.

I don't need to convince anybody, all you gotta do is look at their resumes.

DVH has been a D-1 HC two years longer than Cohen and has almost 270 more wins.

Both coached and won two conference titles at Northwestern St, both then went on to take over bad programs(Nebraska and Kentucky).

Those tenures went much different though.

DVH has been to 15 straight regionals, I don't know where that stands nationally, but I doubt Cohen ever touches that.

Jesus, I'm not saying Cohen is better. I'm simply saying coming in here to prove us wrong or that we should rather DVH is retarded considering the circumstances. Van Horn has had a great tenure-no denying that. He's a proven good manager. OTOH, Cohen has just hit his stride at State in the past few years with the talent level rising in each one. The future is ahead of us and history could be made in a week.

True. But the fact of the matter that people are choosing to overlook is that we're not even "up" yet.

Did you misunderstand that THIS MSU team was recruited during the darkest times in the history of our baseball program -- with a former coach sabotaging our efforts from behind the scenes, a split/pissed off fanbase, etc?

Did you miss the fact that our 3 best MLB arm talents are currently not throwing for us -- at least 2 of which will be back next year? We're literally doing this with one starting pitcher.

Did you miss the fact that we've got a 6'5 highschooler coming that went from 84-85 as a soph -- to 89-91 as a jr -- to 96 as a sr -- with the body type and arm action to throw 100?

No -- the overall talent level on our team is NOWHERE NEAR what it's about to become in the next couple of years... If we keep developing how we have with this group, how good we can be is about to become downright scary.

But hey -- make fun of me -- everyone did when I said WE ARE BACK before the season this year -- and that's going to make for some tremendous bumps when this little run of ours finally ends.

Gene Chizik won a national title.

Better HC than Bobby Petrino?

Not that I don't think Cohen's a great coach. Just a little young in his career to anoint him.

If anybody has missed these items then they certainly haven't read this thread, as you have repeated these same things at least 4 times.

It is time for a new act.

That does seem to be the logic of this thread.

You can't count. Typical Arky fan I guess.

LOL no. DVH took over for a 20 year coach at Nebraska that went 767-453-1. That was a well-established successful baseball program. Cohen took over a baseball program that went 713-602-5 in the 24 years prior. That's a big arse difference.

Yeah, that's what we're saying. We aren't still trying to win one of two in order to play for a national title or anything...

The guy whose school hasn't won a NC since 1941 keeps trying to convince us page after page that his baseball team is gonna be the next powerhouse for decades to come. Dude, why not just relax and enjoy your teams moment in the sun? Believe it or not most of us are actually happy for ya'll and are pulling for the bulldogs to take home their first Championship since the beginning of WWII. No reason to be stressing out on a message board and acting all insecure.
