No way the majority of gump fans honestly believe the UT rivalry is bigger than LSU.
UT is actually a rival... so it is.
LSU game is more important the past five years because it has title ramifications.
If LSU begins to suck again, it won't be important. If Alabama begins to suck, it won't be as important.
I don't know what is so hard to understand about this?

Football didn't begin in 2009.

To all the kids on here talking about how the LSU/Bama game hasn't meant much to LSU fans until Saban got there, in 2000 LSU fans rushed the field after beating a 3-5 Alabama team.
For LSU fans, Bama has been the team to beat since Mississippi's decline in the 70s. Like it or not, Bama has been the game circled on LSU calendars for 40 years.
And Bama fans, Bear Bryant is the one who put LSU on Alabama's schedule annually. He did it knowing it would become a big game. Did he beat McClendon every year? Just about, but since Bear's last year, the series is nearly even. That's over 30 years.
It's a fricking rivalry. There's nothing wrong with that. Why are people so scared of that fricking word?

Traditionally LSU hasn't been a historically good program until Saban arrived.
And the past few years they're on the decline so....I give it a 1.

Alabama is 4-8 against Auburn over the last 12 years
Auburn also has more conference championships than any SEC team over the last 10 years
So you extend the Iron Bowl rivalry to 12 years because it supports your inane "argument," but limit your SEC Championship "argument" to 10 because otherwise it would be unsubstantiated?
Got it.
I wish you could see how stupid you look through the eyes of virtually any other observer.

HOWEVER, I truly do not know a single Bama soul, outside of this board, who loathes LSU. I enjoy picking on the fans here but they have always been my 2nd favorite team, and I love Miles as a coach.
I don't think many Tiger fans actually loathe Alabama as a program or even the fans. Some may dislike Saban for leaving but that's just the jilted spouse syndrome.
I actually admire Bama's football program. They play good ball, their uniforms are cool (love the old school "just numbers on the helmet" and the strict two-tone only look of them.)
I don't even dislike Alabama fans. I shake my head sometimes at the outrageous ones that do things like poisoning trees, tea bagging people and shooting relatives when Bama loses. But it's not hate, just kind of sad for them.
The one exception are the Bama "fans" that have never lived in Alabama, never went to school there or known anyone who went to school there and just either jumped on the bandwagon when they started wining again or just want to be contrary around fans of their home state team.

Was Alabama a big Rival to LSU 2001-2006? Nope. It was Auburn that most LSU fans i know hated the most. Them and Florida were 1a and 1b.
We have no yearly rival, they do. Probably why we dont agree if we are "rivals."
I thought A&M would be potentially a good rival for us, but they are still worried about Texas and have to beat us a couple times for it to begin to develop.

I live in Bama and don't let these idiots on here fool anyone.
Auburn is and always be Bama most hated rival, less hatred but much fear is the LSU game last 6 or 7 years. It has been such a physical game that has decided the West and NC. Both teams usually play like crap the enxt week. Bama fans (That attended Bama) in my neck of woods have all said that they expect this game to be another barn burner. Do they expect to win, yes, do they expect it to be very tough game, yes.
Auburn is a 11/10
LSU is a 9/10
UT has fallen to a 8/10 because it is non competitive like Ole Miss LSU was for a decade or so.
Traditionally it is Auburn then UT, but right now it is Auburn and LSU.

Being a member of the legion of treekillers, I will rank this rivalry accordingly...
LSU views this relationship as the Sequoiah National Forest - huge, majestic, gargantuan.
Bama views it as a small copse of alders beside a small brook.

Don't know about rivalry but this game is like SF/SEA and PT/Baltimore on a physical scale. Most physical game in CFB, hands down.
bout the only honest statement on the game ... it is a big game because of the title implications and the amount of talent on hand every year ... that said, lsu is firmly ensconced as bama's #3 rivalry, and bama is lsu's #3, if not #2 ... not sure what lsu fans consider to be their #1 rivalry ... maybe ole miss or florida ... don't know ... lsu fans get a little pissy when people point out bama is one of their top 2 rivalries, though geography is why lsu doesn't have a couple of big games to choose from ... it's a great game, tho, even before saban came home ...

Bama fans are retarded when they try and downplay LSU as a rival. Just makes them look insecure.
From a non LSU or bama fan perspective, I say the following:
Rivalry is an 8.5 for LSU. It is the game more LSU fans want to win each year than any other. Ole Miss, AU, UF all rank behind bama.
Rivalry is a 7.5 for bama. AU is a 10 and that is about all bama has. UT doesn't even register anymore, bama fans have to put in a shitload of effort to even get up for the UT game these days, even though they act like it is a big deal.
Personally, I watch about all the big SEC games every year and the last time I watched the Bama-UT game was 2009. It just doesn't matter.
Bama-LSU on the other hand is currently the second best rivalry in the SEC and must see tv every year.

Whatever, Mr. TiM. You judge a rivalry your way and we'll judge a rivalry our way.

For all their bluster, they really are the most insecure fanbase around when you get down to it.
