You're fricking stupid and don't know football if you think bama had abetter secondary in 2011. Period.

2011 lsu secondary had the Thorpe award winner and the Bednarik award winner( sec DPOY) with an all American safety. Get a clue.

Secondary wise? Ehhhh.

If we look at college success, they played better in 2011, but the two secondaries had different styles.

But when you look at NFL success?

Bama has had Mark Barron, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Dee Milliner drafted in the first round. Barron is good, Dre hasn't had a chance yet, the game is going too fast for Dee. So yeah. Lester was undrafted, but has played pretty damn good. Menzie, I'm not even sure if he is on a team right now. Fifth round draft pick.

LSU? Mo and Reid were first round draft picks. For Mo, see Dee. Both are going through the rocky transition. Reid? He's playing really well. Mathieu is playing well too. Tharold Simon was a fifth round draft pick, he's behind a number of very good CBs. Ron Brooks was a third round draft pick (I think) and has been decent in his role. Brandon Taylor...I THINK he was a fifth round draft pick, but may have been undrafted. He's been alright.

So NFL success wise, LSU's 2011 secondary is better.

It really doesn't matter and I should have just avoided posting but the continued Bama arrogance even over the dumbest shite admittedly rustles my jimmies. It's impossible for them to accept/admit that they may be second best at anything.

What does the state of my team have anything to do with my ability to judge the state of other programs?

LSU is losing a ton of talent from their offense. Alright, "suck" is too strong a word, but I'd be shocked if their offense didn't take a significant step back.

It's rare for a rookie cb to shine. Aside from qb, cb is the hardest transition from cfb to the nfl. Far more intricate offensive schemes along with not having superior physical talent over their wr counterparts, it's a tough adjustment. Dee and Mo have all the physical tools. I think they'll improve.

If you want to talk about COLLEGE DB's well we've recently had two Thorpe awards winners with Peterson and Claiborne and two defensive players of the year on Peterson and Mathieu. But yeah, crazy for LSU fans to act like we've had crazy successful DBs

I know. Base secondaries are usually composed of 4 players, and these guys didn't break out in the same season. Your statements still don't show why DBU should matter to college football fans. Your secondaries haven't been the best the past 3 year. It wasn't far and away better than Alabama's in 2010, and it was worse in 2009. Defensive backs make up the secondary. Having a great player or two there isn't enough.

Since you like to do this, compare our defensive performances versus A&M THIS year.

Nobody is saying you don't have a better overall defense this year but clearly LSU is better at shutting down A&M

A&M is just one team though. Why can't we talk about LSU's secondary's performances throughout entire seasons? How'd your secondary do versus Georgia and Ole Miss? This isn't just about Alabama. Florida has a better secondary this season and a better one last year.

LSU has had the most success versus Manziel. Congrats. Now how about the other programs that have put a hurting on Chavis' defenses?

Are there people seriously claiming Alabama has a better defense to stop the spread/HUNH? LSU has made the [one of the] most prolific offense[s] in SEC history their bitch for 2 years in a row.

That's not my argument. My argument is that this DBU shite is stupid. When discussing college football, we should discuss players' performances and results collectively in college. There have been better secondaries than LSU in this conference for 3 out of the last 5 seasons. Person awards and achievements can be just as subjective as our opinions. Feel free to mention them, but I don't care.

Do defensive awards have any credibility in arguments anymore? Manti Teo took home several defensive awards last season and was close to winning the Heisman. He wasn't even close to being the best or most outstanding linebacker or defensive player in the country.

Brandon Taylor was a third round pick, and was going to start but tore his ACL in his first start last year. He has been inactive since.

That's not true. Again, my argument regards more than just Alabama. Florida has had the best secondary the past 2 seasons, and I don't hesitate to admit that.

That's all that matters to me. We're talking about college games here. College football and the NFL "aren't the same game". The athletes in the NFL are on another level. College football and below is referred to as "amateur football" right?

I don't follow the NFL, but I'll take your word.

I can accept that. What's making me upset are these claims of greatness and bragging about being DBU when LSU's secondaries haven't been "all that" at the college level. Secondaries are composed of defensive backs. If LSU is the best at evaluating and developing defensive back talent, then shouldn't they have the best secondary more often than not? LSU is also DLU right? If that's so, then their pass defense should be complete. Combine some of the best defensive lines with the best defensive backs and LSU should be putting up crazier stats and performances than they have the past few years.

Alabama is not DBU. I wouldn't claim that. I just feel that the title would make more sense if it was applied to the school that has fielded more successful units of defensive backs the past few years. I know the DBU title extends back a decade or so, but recently, LSU's program hasn't been the best at coaching defensive backs, or the team stats would be better.
