Spent most of my life around agriculture (big animals, not small animals) and the 2 best schools were Cornell and Auburn. Outside of those two I have dealt with TAMU vets but many were at least Mizzou undergrads or grads.

What’s the low end a vet probably makes, and what’s the high end? I don’t trust glassdoor

Equine vets typically make house calls, so a mafia style mercedes wouldn't make sense. I think you are making shite up. Maybe those are the pharma reps dropping off chick fil A lunch for the staff.

Rural or big city?

Full time or part time?

24 hour Emergency care or 9 to 5 spays/neuters/routine checkups?

Orthopedic specialist?

Radiology specialist?

Practice ownership/profit sharing?

Too many variables.

Anywhere from $60k to $1 million.

The ones I dealt with for 25 to 50 years sure did. Granted I am retired now but pretty sure the next generation is in place.

My knowledge of active vets in B / CS is probably at least 10 years old from my last visit there. Impressive operation but did not know the younger set.

Kentucky and Auburn made a deal early on. UK did not build a vet school in trade Auburn held so may spots in their vet school. Folks forget UK was an A&M during part of its history. All male and had a very strong ROTC program.

Cal Davis and Cornell over the SEC vet schools? Yeah, no.

Edit: I see another post above vouches for Cornell. I'm genuinely surprised about that. Surprising to see an Ivy League school that would actually give a damn about any agricultural field these days.

Cornell is Ivy but also an A&M in disguise. Not sure how they are for small animal but for big animal they are good.

Years before anyone in my family ever attended AU my fathers horse became very ill. The vet who was a UGA grad told my grandfather to take the horse to AU if he wanted the horse to live. TIFWIW. aTm has a very good vet school as well

Even though I’m an UGA Vet school graduate, Cornell and Cal-Davis are considered the top Vet schools in our field.
All schools tend to have a “specialty”.
Neonatal equine medicine- Florida (due to the proximity to Ocala)
Cancer research/treatment- Cornell
Transfers portal injuries - A&M

Dentistry is probably the height of being pragmatic in terms of professional degrees. You get good pay for a relatively low stress practice. So I wonder why the suicide rate is so high?
