It seems like it would have been pretty tough area to get to from the rest of the state back in those days.

I approve of the location of Fayville, all college towns should be in or near mountains, lake, or beach.

Athens is cool but it could have gone to next level if it had been location in north Georgia mountains.

I plan to go kayaking on the Buffalo and Mulberry Rivers in Arkansas at some point for a change of scenery, and I'll probably swing by Fayetteville

it isn't really about the distance. I don't mind walking, I go walking all the time.

i'm talking about convenience.

keep in mind my post is from a college kid living on campus perspective. in a college town setup like Auburn, going downtown to get a bite to eat with 1 hour between classes is no big deal but probably going to be pushing it to try that in Oxford.

nothing wrong with downtown Oxford but it would be better sit if there some stuff closer to campus as well.

lol move it to between the Tugaloo Lake and Tallulah Gorge, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Georgia.

would be like 40 minutes from Clemson then too. lol

We could play a neutral field game every year in a big bowl on the banks of the Chattooga River which is the border b/t SC and GA. then go rafting

The Battle of The Chattooga.

The point I was making was he said a visit to Oxford makes it seem like you are in Gone With the Wind. I don’t think he would recognize it now.

I definitely respect your opinion on distance, but for me I liked the school and downtown being separate entities. Helps to distinguish the atmospheres imo
