Very true. I do have to give LSUs career services department credit. They have brought in some companies to recruit there that other SEC schools couldn't sniff. The CIA program helps with this as well.
I had five offers (big 4 and a big bank) coming out and many of my peers have landed at companies such as Goldman, Credit Suisse, Exxon, etc...

I suspect the fact that LSU isn't on that list is the real reason you don't like that list either.

So you've uncovered why the WSJ list is credible now? Bc I'm upset LSU isn't on it? Not quite. Bammer logic at its best.
I'm a Tiger through and through but I don't have delusions about how LSU is perceived. Delusion is strongest in Ttown.
I've offered other examples of why the list is suspect.

Why so? You're the one coming on here knocking these publications then running down certain schools based on their research numbers. Alabama fans take themselves less seriously on these and other boards than most fanbases. It was an Alabama fan that correctly stated that a degree from an SEC school other than Vandy and maybe Florida and A&M are more or less the same. Alabama fans also aren't the ones always making smartass comments about dumb idiots getting into certain schools so I'd say we're far less delusional than others in that regard.

Lehigh is almost strictly an engineering school though. And how many PENN (not UPENN man...) stay in the Keystone state?

Again, I can only speak from experience here. My experience growing up in Alabama is that Alabama fans and grads are somewhat arrogant. When I was wined and dined by Dr. Witt and the Computer-Based Honors Program director I was turned off by the pretension in the room and around campus. Just my experiences and my perceptions. But 18 years of witnessing Alabama arrogance and pretension has led me to believe there's a bit of delusion in the mix to prop everything else up.
Correction: I knocked one publication. Not more than one. If you take issue with my complaints about the WSJ article then let's hear it. I will admit my criticisms were based on which schools were and were not included.
Finally, I didn't argue with your contention that, aside from Vanderbilt, an SEC school's prestige is a wash in places outside of the South. Great point. No argument from me. Nor did I use some anecdote about this friend who got into Auburh but not Georgia. I just used some numbers about research expenditures to make a case that certain schools probably don't belong in the AAU.
Now, if you'd like to think that I have delusions about LSU, then point them out in my posts above. If not, then I suggest you keep it movin'.

Oh, I agree that plenty of the higher ups in UA administration and the BOT have an atttitude that their s### doesn't stink. No argument there. I don't think that necessarily extends to the typical Bama grad though. I agree we are arrogant as hell about our football program but not really about the school itself. If anything I think most Bama grads sell their school short.
As for UA Computer Based Honors faculty being arrogant, I have no idea personally so I'll take your word for it. The only opinions I've heard about the UA Honors College have been positive but that was from the parents of prospective and current students on the College Confidential message boards.
P.S. You mentioned tax law earlier. Do you teach law at LSU? Speaking of publications and law, how would you rate the law schools in the SEC?

Talk about pompous windbags... I'm surprised those kids would have anything nice to say about any schools but HYPSMC.

Sorry, might have me confused with someone else. I don't think I can speak about tax law. And I live in Philadelphia and do some adjunct work at Penn. I don't work at LSU nor do I study law. Hope that clears some things up.

My point is that some majors are more in demand than other majors regardless of what institution you go to. You honestly don't think that someone with a History degree from a top 20 school will have an easier time finding a job than someone with an Accounting or Finance degree from a top 100 school even if it is just for an entry level job?
Posted on 6/3/12 at 9:57 pm to RandyVandy
Depends on what school's board you post on. The arrogance on that site is most apparent when someone from the Northeast or Midwest is interested in an SEC school and inevitably someone asks why they don't get a decent education where they are implying that going to an SEC school is throwing away your education.

Bama Law is ranked pretty well nationally #28 (below Michigan & Indiana above PSU Law & Wisconsin Law)
ETA UGA LAW #38

This was kinda my point. I was a history major, so I mostly just had to stand up for my discipline. Salute to all the liberal arts guys out there grindin and showing the business, engineering, etc. majors of the world who is BOSS, and who is a poor excuse for a good calculator.

I typed "aside from" Vandy. But I'll edit my other post for slow readers. Typical Penn State fan.

Bama Law just under 20k a year for #28 (in-state)
Penn State Law ranked 77 is almost double in price(in-state, out of state same price)
The Ivys (Penn,Princeton,Yale, etc.) 50k per year
