That's exactly what I'm saying, and I think it's a good thing.
Keeping the smart kids in state is something that Ole Miss has only really done since probably the late 1990's or so. In the long run, it will be very, very good for the university.
Again, I was essentially paid to go to Ole Miss. Don't act like that's not a sweet deal.

With Good reason. They are gamed heavily. Purdue a few years ago gave away ipods and itunes downloads if you just applied to the university, boom that makes them more selective in their acceptance because ton of people now have applied that couldn't get in. Some Universities are accepting "provisional" students, which are regular students but the University lists them as provisional so their acceptance standards are higher.
Just research the university you want to go to, visit it and judge for yourself. If it looks easy it problem isn't that good of a program.
Also if you want to go into engineering take some damn english classes. We instituted a writing exam as part of our interview process, if you fail that you fail the interview.
