4. LSU: 2 Final fours, 3 Elite Eights, 4 Sweet Sixteens, 15 NCAA Tourneys, 5 Conference Titles

Mizzou: 5 elite eights, 7 Sweet Sixteens, 26 NCAA tourneys, 23 conference titles

I know you all wanna use the Final Fours as an end-all-be-all method to knock Mizzou cuz it's convenient for you, but logically speaking Mizzou is undeniably a better program, and educated people using reason (not message board posters) agree with me on this.

Top 31 programs from 1979-2010 Mizzou ranks in here at #21, LSU unranked

Street and Smith top programs of all time
Mizzou ranks in at 38, LSU at 50

ESPN Basketball Staff ranks top 50 in 50
Mizzou ranks in at 37, LSU at 48

So yes, feel free to laugh at Mizzou for never making a Final Four, but it is essentially un-debatable among people who actually know college basketball that the top four in the SEC are Kentucky, Florida, Arkansas, and Missouri. I'll take opinions of people who cover CBB for a living any day over the Rant's opinion.

Tier 1 - nattys.
1. Kentucky
2. Florida
3. Arkansas

Tier 2 - conference titles, at least one decent run in NCAAs
4. LSU
5. Alabama
6. Mississippi State

Tier 3 - competitive years
7. Tennessee
8. Vanderbilt
9. Auburn
10. South Carolina
11. Missouri

Tier 4 - the rest.
12. Ole Miss (needs a conference title to move up)
13. Georgia
14. Gay&M

Most accurate list I've seen.

Ridiculously inflated numbers. In fact, Mizzou's basketball numbers have been so inflated - If I were the OP, I'd edit the thread and have people rank teams #1-13, and leave off Mizzou.

It's very debatable, actually. I am sure many longtime college basketball fans would recognize LSU as the bigger basketball brand than Mizzoue because of our teams and more importantly the athletes that have come through the PMAC. I'll take LSU's body of work and all-time great players than a Mizzou's consistent but irrelevant accomplishments

You went undefeated in the big8 after losing by 50 points to an SEC team who did not go undefeated in the SEC that year.

The big8 was Kansas, Mizzou, and sometimes OKST no one else in that league gave a frick about basketball at that time.

Not that consistent, the longest NCAA streak for their program is 5 straight.

Probably not, but could have. No way we should have lose to a shitty Syracuse team after beating UConn and Cincy at Rupp.

No. That 96 Kentucky team is arguably one of the best CBB teams of all time.

That's fine, and I'll take Mizzou's vastly greater number of conference titles and regular season successes. To each his own I guess, but the experts agree with me.

Cool, I know you arkies love that game. Congrats on the victory. Oh, and if you think over the course of history the SEC is on the same level as the Big 8/Big 12 in basketball....well, you're beyond my help.

Arkansas is easily the most over rated program so far on folks list.

Outside a run over a couple of seasons Arkansas has been laughably mediocre. What we have been seeing the last 10 years is the norm for that program, not some mystical period when the stars aligned for Nolan.

This thread is not for logic, Kilo. This thread is where State is a top 6 SEC program and Mizzou falls below South Carolina

Yeah, man, in that two year run Arkansas accumulated 3 more final fours, 2 more elite 8s, 4 more sweet 16s, 2 more conference titles, and a NC compared to Mizzou.

Great 2 year run that was.

Roflcopter

Final Fours in three different decades
Elite Eight in 4 different decades
Sweet Sixteen in 4 different decades
Conference Titles in 8 different decades
30-20 win seasons
5-30 win seasons
1,566 wins in 89 years

Reaching the top of the hill is more important to some around here than looking at the big picture.

By the SECr logic that means that Mizzou has a historically better baseball program than all but South Carolina and LSU.

Bingo. But don't overwhelm the small minds in here with that...it's useless.

I wasn't being serious.

I was just going by Dale's lead, thought this thread was for posting random bull shite and nonsense to get a rise out of other fans.

Sorry.
