You must not know how big the Young Republicans are in Starkville at Mississippi state and how big agricultural programs/vet school folks, and Ducks Unlimited is in Stark Vegas. Hell the city just this fall changed the law to sell beer on Sundays.

And the reason I am saying all this, is because most Universities emulate the cities that they are located in.

When I was in school beer in convenience stores/grocery stores weren't sold cold, and all bars closed at Midnight.

I don't see how that is sad.

On a side note, Lexington, along with Louisville and a handful of smaller counties, is one of only a handful of areas in Kentucky to vote in favor of Obama.

Fayetteville is Obama-ville, and the townies voted 68% to decriminaliz marijuana use a year ago.

The student body is probably more liberal than Mississippi & Alabama. Idk, we're not number 1, but Arkansas is higher up the list than you'd think.

Arkansas is mixed. We are the Land of Bill Clinton and Joycelyn Elders, and the Land of Huckabee and The Duggars.

Well, we are referring to the student body.

Of course, I was a history major so pretty much 9 out of 10 of my classmates voted for Obama. Sad, really.

No, not really.
Pretty telling, actually.

I really don't see why it matters which school is more liberal or conservative anyway.

That's the problem today. Everyone wants to argue and fight over politics. Everyone wants to demonize those on the opposite political spectrum. It's silly and it helps nothing and no one.

Just a simple question to see the rants opinions on this.

I'm not arguing at all. I was just answering the question with my opinion.

8. Ole Miee

Ole Miss is very conservative, but there are def some liberal aspects.

When Princeton review comes out with their Top 10 schools for marijuana Ole Miss generally makes that list with schools such as Cal-Berkley and Colorado Boulder. The administration is liberal leaning as is the faculty. The school itself may be the one of the most racially progressive colleges in the country. It's one of the few places where race problems are acknowledged and addressed. Most universities just ignore these problems and pretend they don't exist.

Vandy has the most intelligent student population/faculty, so they should definitely be number 1.

Everywhere else seems pretty dumb and conservative, so I doubt the order matters.

This is the truth, but lists like these are fun.

Seriously though, do you think Obama got more votes than McCain in the election? I honestly don't know.

I know he didn't in the county.
But with no black people to speak of. Around 50% Obama is pretty liberal.

Vandy actually is a pretty conservative place, UF is probably the most liberal around. That's if you're talking purely political values.

Fiscally of course.
I'd guess that Florida is more liberal than Vandy, but I don't know that for sure.

Georgia at #2 is WRONG. I'll admit, the townies of Athens are liberal as balls, but this is about the students. Look at the greek enrollment for UGA. Look at the % of blacks (6% [with only 4% being non-athletes]). You may think that's racist or whatever, but it's no secret that blacks are more likely to be liberal than conservative. I've spent the last 6 years of my young life in Athens and I can assure you this town's youth (ie, students) are much more conservative than liberal.

I'd have to disagree somewhat...I was a student at UGA this decade, and yeah, greek students tend to be conservative, but they make up a small percentage of the student body. College students in general tend to lean liberal and I think UGA follows that trend pretty well.

UGA isn't liberal compared to many northern or urban universities, but compared to the other schools in the SEC, I'd say we are pretty liberal.

When I first saw this thread, I was thinking top 3 for UGA.

And why do you think this thread is dumb?

Its just a basic question I wanted to examine to see how the rant feels about if the different schools in the SEC are more to the left or right.
