Not to hate, but Holtz and Spurrier are HOF type coaches. Comparing two HOF coaches against each other does not support the idea they are shitty coaches.

Im not comparing Holtz and Spurrier. The guy was basically asking who has had the success Spurrier has had at USC. Just pointing out that he hasnt done any better than Holtz

saban- i expected bama to lose at least once by now.

meyer- undefeated as expected.

petrino- arkansas is a lot better than i thought they'd be.

brooks- kentucky was my darkhorse pick in the east and they have had another fine season.

chizik- i thought auburn would be terrible this season. proved me wrong, they aren't good but they're far from bad.

nutt- typical nutt, expectations= fail. i put him above miles since he continues to have his number.

miles- yea last game sucked polar bear dick but all in all things could be a lot worse. forget last game and LSU has lost to #1 florida and #2 alabama and still has a shot at the cotton bowl.

mullen- this guy is going to be a very good coach. if they give him the time they gave croom, by year 4 or 5 miss. state could be a force to be reckoned with.

spurrier- i don't think we will ever see south carolina challenge florida and georgia like we thought when spurrier took this job. nevertheless, the cocks are always a tough opponent. ellis johnson is also a great D coordinator which helps out the OBC.

richt- dude needs a defensive coordinator in the worst way. and a quarterback. tough year for uga, they will always be a competitor in the east though.

kiffin- gone about as expected. vols have been tough to beat every game except the second half of ole miss. guy is a massive douchenut though.

johnson- hope vandy regroups and gets back to a bowl next year.

I love the way you ignore the facts I posted, and just focus on one game LOL.
Saban is good, but there is no question that Urban is better. Just facts.
Yes, I think Urban, and Saban will meet in Atlanta a lot, if they stay put."

If i had my choice of either of these 2 i want Saban.

And Miles loses to both Meyer and Saban.

That'd be my guess at least.

I certainly thought the talent was a lot closer to 10 wins with your schedule. Not a huge NFL guy, but how many guys could you potentially lose to the NFL this year?

WR- Shay Hodge
WR/RB- Dexter McCluster
RG- John Jerry
DE- Greg Hardy (out for season)
OLB- Patrick Trahan (Nutt Juco recruit, 1st year starter)
DE- Marcus Tillman (maybe)

Hodge and McCluster were not draftable before this season.
Ed Orgeron's last recruiting class was garbage (this year's jrs). I imagine that DT Jerrell Powe, QB Jevan Snead, and SS Johnny Brown will be the only draftable players.

Steve Spurrier sent 10 players to the draft last year on a team that went 7-6.
again, just sayin'

shh...
RT- Bobbie Massie
RB- Brandon Bolden
TE- Gerald Harris
OLB- Patrick Trahan

On the bright side, about 18-20 of Nutt's first class are RS freshmen this year.
His second class has about 15 currently redshirting.

Thanks for the response. Of course, you know my obvious NEXT question:

How many games should arkansas have won this year, with basically 1 guy going to the NFL off of this team, if your talent level suggested that you should only win 7?

I'm surprised it's 4. I only thought Massie.

I thought Eason was the starter.

Oh wow, I forgot that Kiffen was one of the coaches, and left him off the list.
He might be fine with x and o's, but I think he will prove to be a terrible head coach (bad for recruits, big mouth, arrogant, and just a child). I would put him behind Richt, and Miles, on last place.
Papa Kiffen did a decent job, but rumors are he is a goner next year.
Anyone who can get along with coach O, has to be a d-bag.

how can you base it on one season.

Here is the best coaches in the SEC based on who I would have to build a program in their prime

Nutt
Saban
Spurrier
Brooks

Johnson
Petrino
Kiffen
Mullen
chizic

Meyer
Miles (I seen all I needed satruday, then his reaction)
Richt.

The last 3 guys are probabaly the worst coaches in the league based on my 5 criteria.

Alabama wins the SEC and then MURDERS Texas in the BCSCG this season.

I just hope after that, Saban will stick around.

But how many of his half are starting?

My impression is that not many are... and if true, then it's yet to be seen whether they can fill the shoes of the talent that Ole Miss is about to lose at the end of this season. Most of your playmakers are leaving, IIRC.

I would be cautious with your optimism if I were you.

Think about this way:
Saban and Meyer are clearly top level coaches at recruiting hotbed schools. LSU is another recruiting hotbed school which should win 2-3 SEC titles every 10 years given the talent available.

Out of the coaches in the SEC, what coach would Alabama and Florida fear most at LSU? I think most sane posters would say Petrino.

Imagine Mallett/Tolliver/Lafell/Randle. That would be MFing UNSTOPPABLE
