Did Jerry Clower really play for State or is that just part of his stand up act?

Yes - he was an offensive lineman. He got pancaked by a defensive lineman and told the story of pulling dirt and turf out of his facemask and realized - "the meek shall inherit the earth"

I was a Phi Tau at State. Off campus fraternity, very Animal House-like. The outside of the house on South Jackson Street even looked like the one in Animal House.

Phi Tau spent years trying to raise money to build a house on campus, and after I left, they finally did. I think they folded a few years after that.

Don't remember if Jerry Clower ever came around the house as a Phi Tau alum.

He lettered in 49 and 50 so I am guessing that was 2 way football. So yes, probably. Not familiar with a Clemson story, though.

Jerry Clower played his first two years at Southwest (MS) Junior College right down the road from his home in Liberty.

Just heard it on XM. Switched to Bluecollar because Jim Brewer wasn't being funny... Shock.

What's the difference between Auburn and State? About $20,000.
